Visited with my wife and daughter to do the day hike (Palmiet). To do this we travelled one hour from Hermanus. We had to purchase 3 permits at the reception total 150 rand. As we left the car park there was one sign to the trail and that was it. Nothing else. We had no idea which way to go. We later found out that the trial is basically an out and back walk up a dirt road which leads to the zip lining attraction. What a complete waste of time. There are endless dirt roads between Hermanus and this ‘nature reserve’ we could have walked along free of charge. Really disappointing although I hear the zip lining is good.

On going for a walk in the HH Nature reserve I was surprised at how nature had fought back after the fires and there was evidence of new shoots in trees and new seedlings popping up.

I enjoyed a lovely day in the Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve, ziplining from mountain to mountain! The scenery is gorgeous, and it's a fun activity no matter the weather. The hiking trails looked incredible, and I would definitely go back to try them out!

Check out the review on suicide gorge, the best hike in South Africa. Hiking down a gorge jumping off waterfall after waterfall.

you do not get to experience the beauty of the park by doing the only day hike. You are mostly confined to the large dirt road that is used by the zip-line people. When you finally get onto a small foot path into the mountains it is great but do not last long. The park can easily increase the number of day hikes and lay them out so that the potential of the park is realised. Will go back for the zip-lines.

The Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve hosts an array of experiences from zip-lining to kloofing. It has a beautiful landscape and has breathtaking views. Our party took the suicide gorge route, which was an experience I would recommend to any thrill seeker. This route takes you through a series of waterfalls and pools (which you have to jump from) the highest of which is 14 m. Suicide gorge is definitely not for the faint of heart, the unfit or those afraid of heights. Though honestly this was an experience I will never forget.

From Sir Lowry's Pass the road goes up through Hottenthot Mountain and the Natural Reserve. This was just the most beautiful scenic drive. We had passed by the Hottenthot Mountain twice and this time it was completely spell-bounding because of a natural phenomenon. The clouds were pouring over the mountain like snow! We had seen something similar over Table Mountain but today it was just the volume of cloud pouring over and it was continuously moving over- it was beautiful. On the mountaintop, I can look out at the ocean and sun-setting and the wineyards below.

En route to Cape Town I called the telephone number given on the Internet
A very friendly lady explained exactly how to get there.
The following morning I arrived at 8am and was delighted by great service at reception
Numerous youngsters were checking in to do the Kloofing at Suicide Gorge
I was directed to the parking lot and went to the start of the zip line/kloofing office
What friendly and informative people work there
Had a snack at the make shift restaurant and heed off on the Palmiet walk towards suicide gorge
The trip can be seen only as an aperitif fir more to come
This is a World Heritage Site and there is definitely a need to spend far more time there
Slack Packing is on offer and we will investigate further
I walked to the rock pools and enjoyed wonderful FYNBOS insects and birds
It started to get hot and I was lucky to get a lift pack from a Driver working for the kloofing operation
He excitedly told me exactly where I needed to go to find the Mimetes
I hope to do this next week as they are in full flower

I did the Zip line on Monday 23 March 2015...most majestic experience ever. The weather was perfect and the tour guides superb. Clinton, Jeff and Charlton made us feel like friends instead of guests. The springbok pie afterward was unfinishable. Never in my life did I enjoy a pie like that. Thank you staff of Cape Canopy Tour for your hospitality and professionalism. Much appreciated. I hope that their tour will grow from strenght to strenght. The only add on I suggest is taking of photos and perhaps one video to include in cost.
