Great picnic area and for kids to run around, quite tranquil as you listen to the peace sound of nature.

Even though there was a total fire ban in place we were still able to drive in and visit the Bongil Bongil National Park. There are magnificent stands of eucalypts throughout the park some of which were planted over 50 years ago.
The picnic area is just fabulous. It is really hard to photograph the huge stands of trees as they are so tall and incredibly straight.
There is a walking come cycle track which leaves from the picnic area and there is a pontoon which is on Bonville Creek which allows you to put a kayak or canoe into the creek.

This peaceful picnic area and walking track date back to the 1800's.
2.5km walking track with nature at it's best all in view along the way.
Such a perfect Sunday to be surrounded by nature at it's best.
Look up and around be sure not to miss the hidden wonders that surround you, the biggest and most unusual mushrooms I've ever seen, deep red sap dripping from the trees broken on the ground looked like red boiled candy, ghost gum and two horn devil log.

It’s the sandy beach at the end of a dirt track that really makes this place. The beach is simply stunning with few people about.
The sound of surf and wildlife and nothing else. There are no facilities in the park so bring your own and take them away with you. The dirt track is passable with care in a normal car, just go slowly. Look out for birds in particular and Bush turkeys.
Worth a visit.

If you enjoy coastal walking, access to beaches and rainforest, and plenty of solitary time then this park is worth checking out. My first walk was from the north into Bongil Bongil picnic area. Easy wide trail - went back later for lunch. Picnic area is beautiful and right on the creek- had the place to ourselves.
Next morning I did the Bongil Beach walk, again had the place to myself. Beach was really cool.
Final walk was the Rainforest walk at Bundagen. This was the highlight, ending at a stunning rock formation. Very easy grade too. Tied it in with the Bluff Loop, but if you have to make a choice, I’d do the rainforest to beach. It says 3 hrs return but we took it easy and it was still under 2 hrs. Allow time at the beach.
Would like to come back. Looks like there are more walking options.

I have visited this location several times and i always end up returning. There is so much to see and the location is also private and isolated. There is an abundance of wildlife, hidden beaches and plenty of time for relaxation and rejuvenation. A must see destination for all, with plenty of opportunities for fishing if that suits.

The park features gorgeous deserted beaches stretching for miles, Rocky headlands, tidal creeks which are great for boating or paddle boarding. There are deep dark subtropical forests and overnight accommodation.
