Great memories of Great Lakes trek which I want to repeat next year for sure with my friends inshaAllah. Unforgettable journey through the stunning landscapes of snow-capped mountains of Sonamarg.

I visited Vishansar (Vishnusar) Lake as a part of the Great Lakes of Kashmir trek. The lake is beyond the Nichnai Pass and is part of the twin lakes (Vishnusar and Kishansar). No words or photos can do justice to the true beauty of the place. You need to visit the place to believe it.

We stepped by Vishansar Lake for a day - easily access Krishnasar Lake and Vishansar Lake nearby, it was surrounded by a small valley. Good photo point :)
Come here, take a rest and head for Sonamarg is applicable. Way to Nichinai Pass and Sonamarg is fine, but still take your medicine in case. You could finish your trip from Vishansar Lake to Sonamarg within one day.

This lake is part of the first twin lake you can see on the Kashmir Great Lake trek. This lake is after you cross the Nichnai pass. The place has some shepherd huts in the summers where they take hundreds of sheep for grazing. The lake is amazingly beautiful with glacier mountains at backdrop and it looks different at each angle

We did the Great Lakes of Kashmir with Renok Adventures. As usual it was a real wonderful trek. Vishansar is the first lake that we come across on the trek and the beauty is really awesome. Its serene, peaceful and untouched surroundings give you the real feel of the beauty of Kashmir. Highly recommended for travellers who want to see Kashmir..

It was spectacular with lots of wild flowers, glaciers and mountains
We spotted a few birds and some marmots near the lake
We did this as a four day hike with a guide and ponies
Day 1 from Srinagar to Sonamarg - 4 hour drive
Day 2 up the mountain to camp - 4 to 5 hours slow to medium pace - a lot of uphill and I don't recommend using the ponys as one of ours tumbled down the mountain! Trust your own feet and don't let your guide force you on a pony if you don't want to go on one.
Day 3 walk to Vishansar and back - full day
Day 4 return to Sonamarg - all down hill, we took our time and took about 4 hours
Stunning scenery. Lovely time if you have nice guides (ours was rather grumpy).

Kishansar & Vishnasar, (Sar; meaning a natural pond/ spring in Kashmiri) the high altitude lakes.
Amazingly placed in the Pirpanjal range, these two lakes fall on the trek route from Shakdur to Naranag, a 65 Km long trek. The lakes are situated at almost 14,000 feet.
Kishansar & Vishansar are placed next to each other and under the foothills of Gadsar Pass, which makes the uphill trek to Gadsar very terrifying and amazing at the same time.
While you can camp near Kishansar & Vishansar on the banks of a tributary that flows out from these lakes. The valley is mesmerizingly beautiful and will haunt you for quite some time.
The water of the lakes is ice-cold and greenish in appearance.
The trek as a whole is an awesome treat for the nature lovers and the trek at the same time is tiring and kind of dangerous in its own way.

I'll travel to kashmir in Oct'17. I would like to know whether this lake is accessible in this month. Also, is it possible to cover it in 1 day by a car
