The mountain which is just opposite to palani temple that gave us a nice look with plenty of shining and twisting lights all through the waving steps corridor during the night. After visiting palani temple in the night we visited the idumban temple in the next day morning. We were at the bottom of the idumban hill by 7.00 am. The shop keeper told the temple will open by 7.30 am. Though my spouse had knee pain and was hesitating. But seeing the gradual ascending of steps she got boosted and with my moral support she decided to climb the steps. After getting up nearly 150 steps ( they have written the count of steps after each 50 steps. Also the Msl details also written legibly) after stepping around 250 steps the steps started to ascend at 45 degree angle. Little tough for my wife and for me too as we both are at 56 and 50 respectively. They set up a shade at regular gap. Finally we ascended the top idumban temple. It was locked. We waited for purohit.we sat and rested for few minutes. It was a very good sight over there. We could see the palani temple from there. All around we had a good sight of whole palani town.we could see saravana poigai too

Lot more greenery. Rope cars were moving up and down with colorful cars linked to the iron rope. Forest flowers were smiling at us
Due to the early morning none were there
We could sit silently amidst the chirping sound of two tailed sparrow. Brown coloured chittu kuruvi also was flying here and there. Sun was raising at the back of idumban temple. Quite a good ambience.

Around 8 pm purihit came and started to clean the temple and with 15 minutes he called us for dharshan. Very big idumban statue.carrying both mountains at his shoulders with big mustache and masculine arms. Great warrior look. Had a nice dharshan and went around his sannidhi. Then we slowly came down and reached the bottom without much tiredness

This Temple is at a 15-20 minutes walk from the main murugan temple in Palani..

There are about 500-550 steps to reach this Temple.. Many tourists who visit Palani don't come here because they don't know the real importance of this place..

Before having Darshan in Palani Hills, one should have Darshan here..

Good place to worship and pray to get your prayers come true..

Don't miss this place..

it is a pretty straight steps of 550+. It is a fifteen minute walk from the Pazhani Andavar temple. The temple is open from 8:00 till 5:30 in the evening. The view from the temple is beautiful. It is generally said one should have the darshan of the Idumban deity before going to Pazhani andavar.

There is also Idumban deity in the Pazhani andavar temple while one takes steps to reach the temple.

Visit to Idumban temple was unexpected but later this place was in the top priority while visiting Palani . It will take good 20-30 minutes to manure top of the steps but trust me its worthy . Idol is six feet high and it has several stories which was explained by the poojari .

The temple is generally not frequented by tourists. If you don't have time you can skip the visit to this temple. There are about 500 steps to the top & the place gives good view of the Palani Hills & the city.

This temple is situated half way toward the Palani temple of Lord Murugan when one goes by steps or the elephant path. It is customary to pray Lord Idumban before praying to Lord Murugan

The temple is quite simple and straight. There is little info on the unique character, Edumbar, supposedly the creator of kavadi. The priests are not quite helpful with any info either. Unlike the Murukan Temple, there is no ropeway/cable car/winch here. You simply walk up 570 steps, that is all. There are tiny idols of Ganesh and Murukan in the temple other than Edumbar himself, the main deity. The steps offer great views around. The temple opens at 0600 hrs and closes at 1800 hrs. Ideally, do an early morning climb here before visiting the Murukan Temple.
