Fantastic view and my favourite location for a run in this area (if I'm feeling like some hills).
As you walk around the head the view changes from Balmoral beach to the harbour sound to out through the harbour heads. You get a great view of boat activity from several points - particularly good for the start of the Sydney to Hobart race.
If you're lucky you might see some wildlife too - there are lots of water dragons and birds plus every now and then you might spot an Echidna or a Wallaby.

This particular section of the Spit to Manly Wharf walk was memorable for its bush land surroundings and amazing views of Manly coastline. The walk in this section is mainly flat so it’s easy to get through. Heaps of lookouts but what stood out for me was the various bush flowers (not sure of the name, but it’s white with orange centre) that I’ve never seen before, quite a treat.

Dobroyd Head is the national park on the harbour next to Balgowlah. It is in the middle of the famous Manly Scenic Walkway (Spit to Manly walk) but it's so good that I'd recommend getting straight here and looking around. The views from the main path up high are some of the best possible views of the harbour but there is much more to explore. Go down the unmarked side trail down to Grotto Point (nice lighthouse and views) and Washaway Beach (great hidden beach and cliff looking out the heads) and the other unmarked path opposite the turn off "To Beatty St", which goes down to the amazing Crater Cove with its old fishing huts now preserved - you can peer in the windows at the old furnishings, enjoy the rocky bay and likely be the only person down there. Reef Beach is also good.

Dobroyd Head is a high point which overlooks the harbour and natural bushland, towards Manly and out through ‘the heads’. If you are there early, catch beautiful sunrises across the water and watch ferries go back and forth throughout the day.
There is a large open area, Tania Park and a shared walking/cycling/car road that loops around the park, making it a perfect exercise spot for running/walking laps. The road is one-way only for cars and cars mostly only drive around to access the parking. It’s a 25km zone, so it’s pretty safe.
Dogs are allowed off the leash in the park (must be kept away from the playground and National Park area)
There’s a playground with a safety fence, public bathrooms, parking areas and BBQ. If you are taking children there, be warned that there are usually a lot of dogs running about in the in the park
Sports games can be played here on weekends.
Look out for the sign to Arabanoo Lookout and take a few minutes to walk down the path to the lookout, which was named in honour of Arabanoo who was kidnapped by Governor Phillip’s orders in 1788.

Good for:
i) walking/running laps with the benefit of a great view to incentivise you!
ii) letting dogs off their leash in a large open area
iii) Filling up your water bottle or making a bathroom stop on the Manly to Spit walk. The Manly – Spit boardwalk is just below the park but you can easily pop up from there to get from there to the park.
iv) a scenic drive in the area

At the halfway point on the Manly to The Spit Scenic Walking Track is a lookout at Dobroyd Point which is also accessible by car via the Dobroyd Scenic Drive.

The view across the harbour to North and South Heads is spectacular. Well worth a visit. Probably best know by the locals as there are few signposts from the main road.

A quick drive from Sydney CBD. Plenty of parking and easy access for those with limited mobility. Absolutely magnificent sweeping view of the harbour. My friend visiting from overseas described it as ' like from a movie '. You can go walking around the headland, on bush tracks to different lookouts or down to the rocks below. Its a national park and there is unspoiled native bushland.

Enjoying what could possibly be the best spot to take in all the sights and sounds of Mother Nature at her best. Definitely a place to watch the start for the Sydney to Hobart yacht race or have a priceless picnic. Go on, you won't be disappointed!!

Dobroyd Head is a promontory on the north shore of Sydney Harbour and is part of the Sydney Harbour National Park.

It is covered in virgin Australian flora, much the same as would have been sighted by the first European settlers who arrived in 1788 to establish the Colony of New South Wales, and it is a delight to see coastal heath and Banksia bushes in flower.

There are several lookouts on the Head, providing panoramic views both eastwards through The Heads, the opposing cliffs that provide the gateway to Sydney Harbour from the Pacific Ocean, and westwards to the skyline of Sydney City.

This area was home to Aboriginal people living in caves and there are a number of Aboriginal sites on the Head.

Dobroyd Head can be accessed as part of the Manly to Spit Scenic Walk, which takes about two hours, or from the Dobroyd Scenic Drive, which is a circular road at the top of Dobroyd Head.
