Brilliant exhibit. Great set up, very useful information. Lots to interact with. Plenty of history for the family. Well priced and well worth the visit

As an avid WW2 enthusiast this museum certainly gave a completely new insight into the events that impacted northern Australia and our population at that time.
There is loads of information about the main strikes and how it impacted the people. I also enjoyed seeing some of the captured Japanese war material too.
I strongly recommend starting the tour inside then head outside.

This is a really interesting museum. It is basically in 2 sections - indoor and outdoor. We unfortunately had limited time on the indoor component so don't have much to add on this which includes the famous interactive displays. On the limited amount we saw indoor, they were fantastic.
The outdoor displays were awesome. The especially the incredible 9 inch gun emplacement protecting Darwin through WW2. (If you look at the photo we attached there is a person on the left who gives some perspective to the size of this gun). There were some other awesome displays and we particularly enjoyed the Hornet armoured vehicle, but that was just us - we were not keen on being deployed in it if you read the info board!
Definitely worth a visit - AUD$20 per adult in 2024 (discounts for seniors and military staff)

Darwin's involvement in WW2 should be better known. This museum is well set out and it is easy to spend a couple of hours checking out its extensive displays, theatre, weapons and all things military. I rate the museum highly. It's a must-see for visitors to Darwin and school children should be given time off to have a look around, otherwise this very important part of our nation's history will gradually be forgotten.

We got there on the hop on hop off bus which is strangely the only way to get there unless you have a car or taxi. And you only do that in afternoons. But it is worth it. So we did the Darwin museum in the morning, had lunch at Saltwater then got the first trip to the Military museum. It was busy with young school children who were too young to keep quiet and understand the excellent film. Great exhibits inside and out. A must to visit.

Amazing museum. Brilliant inside interactive exhibitions plus so many other things outside.
Need at least two hours. We ran out of time on our tour but I would love to return.
Highly recommend.

There were lots of displays and information on Australia's military campaigns over the years. Darwin was bombed by the Japanese during World War II and there is a movie covering the 1942 bombing.

if you have never been you have truly missed a wonderful collection and the story of Darwin and the war. the story on the attack in 1942 is well rounded bringing the human story and the factual, blending them well together.

What an experience!
It’s a must do if you love history.
We sat in the theatre and OMGOSH, it bought me to tears.
I think this museum is a real eye opener for people who aren’t too sure or are unaware of the amount of history Darwin holds.
Fascinating and sad at the same time.

A must see for anyone visiting Darwin. Our family loved the Museum and learnt more about the day War came to Australia. The indoor and outdoor exhibits were brilliant, informative and very well put together which made it easy for our 11 year old to take in.

If you want to see everything and check out some of the video shows I would allow a couple of hours however you can make it shorter or longer as you need as most of Museum is really at your own pace and how long you wish to check everything out.

all i can do is reiterate the answer already on screen. it all depends on how long you can stay and how much you want to see, although i would suggest that you allow at the least an hour and a half.

How long would I typically need here to see everything?
