Had a BBQ at one of the campground shelters before having a look around in solitude. Quiet place, scenic views, a few dams and a lookout. Pristine wilderness, take time to enjoy.

I did the South Cape Bay track (~15 km return) on a rainy Monday late March. Because of the forecast, I first considered doing a shorter walk to Fishers Point, but then decided to stick to my original plan and certainly didn't regret it. The track starts at the end of the southernmost road in Australia, so driving there is already an experience itself. The track is relatively easy with little elevation changes and takes you through beautiful landscapes varying from forest to open meadows, and I also spotted several pademelon along the way. As I said, I got soaked by the rain but even that didn't bother me, especially when I finally got to the remote South Cape Bay which was absolutely beautiful. There was even a rainbow waiting for me at the end! It was so worth the walk and getting wet. It is also possible to continue further from the bay if you feel like it. The national park is quite remote and probably not the most popular one in Tasmania, so it doesn't get too busy (at least on a rainy weekday). I drove there from Hobart and the drive itself through cute little towns such as Franklin and Huonville was lovely. I highly recommend this place!

Another beautiful national park! Plenty of walks in the area, beautiful views and a lovely drive! There are also a couple of free campgrounds in the area! Plenty of wildlife

THE WAY TO GET HERE IS ONLY BY SIX DAY WALK OR BY PLANE OR CHARTERED BOAT!
If you have not visited thisregion you have ot been to Tasmania!! We took the dayflight trip with Par Avion to Maleleuca Southwest National Park and explored Bathurst Harbour and Port Davey by boat. The untouched Wilderness, bare of all human habitation, the serene views, the peace and overwhelming beauty of this monumental landscape touched both of us deeply. Even now several weeks later we look at the photos and go soft at the knees. Last night we watched the 3rd episode of Matthew Evans' documentary "Gourmet Farmer Afloat" and it brought it all back.(you'll find this on Utube) Again, the cst for the day trip with Par Avion is worh every cent, I am disabled and found everything accessible for me and we are considering doing the 3day trip next year.
