Historic splendour

I love that this theatre still exists in all it's historic splendour. The sightlines might not be as good as modern theatres but the atmosphere, the decorations, the feel of the place is wonderful. I didn't like the show I saw but it didn't matter. It was still a charming night out.

A fun night out

Dressing in 1930s clothes and trying to solve a Murder mystery while having a good meal! Fantastic value and a really great night out with friends.

Remnant of WA's Age of Gold

In the 1890s, gold was discovered in Western Australia. The backward colony became rich, and one splendid result was His Majesty.s Theatre. His Majesty's is a glittering remnant of times gone by, with rich furnishings and comfortable seats. These days His Majesty's is used for artistic performances such as opera and ballet.

Height of Edwardian splendor

His Majesty's Theatre opened in 1904, when Western Australia was awash with money from the Kalgoorlie Goldfields. It was, in its time, the largest and most most splendid theatre in Australia. The theatre is built in Edwardian Baroque style. His Majesty's was rescued for the people of WA by the Premier, Sir Charles Court.

Dracula- the Ballet. 15/10. Amazing!

My wife and I joined two other friends to watch the new West Australian ballet ‘Dracula’ with music by WASO. We sat central, front row of the top level so we could see the dancers from above. Perfect seats, brilliant sound and exceptional service by the theatre staff. The Ballet was amazing too!

Magnificent theatre outlasts the years

His Majesty's Theatre, usually called 'the Maj' is one of the proudest reminders of Western Australia's gold boom at the turn of the 20th century. Since it was puchased by the WA State Government of Sir Charles Court in 1977, it has been restored several times. It is built in Edwardian Baroque style, with a sumptuous interior. The Maj is home base for the WA Opera and is regularly used by the WA Ballet, as well as other performances.

Grand old piece of Perth history

This is a magnificent piece of Perths history with the cinema being an attraction in itself.
The wood architecture along with heavy vivid curtains as to the ambience of attending a show.

I have been here many times but last time I was in the Nosebleed section and it is so steep that you worried about falling out of your chair.

This is a magnificent heritage theatre.

This was held Downstairs at the Maj.
What happens at the end of the ‘Once upon a time..’
A very entertaining and enjoyable evening. Such a great start to the weekend. We heard from Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Bella from Beauty and the Beast, Rapunzel, Mulan, Pocahontas, Little Mermaid, Princess who kisses the frog. Definitely worth attending!

ホリデイインパースやインターコンチネンタルからすぐの便利なところにあります。
ちょうど、ヴェルディのマクベスが演目にあり、観にいきました。小さめのシアターですが、ドレスアップした観客と、美しい劇場でクラシカルな雰囲気を楽しむことができました。
