Well _we_ liked it, but then we rather do like modern art.
The only downside was a very loud guide giving a tour in Slovenian, it was hard to be in the same room with her, until I remembered I could switch my airpods to the ear defender mode.
Some of the art is not the greatest, but some pieces are really exciting. The impressionist fairytale forest is a real lesson in standing back and taking time. There's a steel ball in a glass mount that I would love to have for my home in a smaller version.
I do get the feeling that they haven't had any new acquisitions since Slovenian independence.
Really super friendly cafe. Great cocktails.
We loved it.
The wheelchair entrance is round the back which is next to the American Embassy, and it took some complicated negotiation to be let past security there. "Stupid policeman," the museum lady muttered under her breath, but in English.

Mediocre, worth a visit if you don’t have much else to do. The building from the outside is nice to see, especially sitting on the square facing much older architecture. Permanent collection is was disappointing. An exhibit about ‘the family of clear streams’ art commune— and I’m usually not into hippie-utopic experiments. But the art was very 1970s and sort of pre-tech imaginaria.
One security guard — or docent? — followed me closely around every hallway and gallery on the 1st floor. It was very weird! I totally get the role of the guard/ custodian/ protector of art person… but this was extreme. And I’ve been to literally hundreds of museums in dozens of countries. Definitely detracted from my experience.
Plus, when I tried to buy a few books in the bookshop, the prices in the cashier’s computer were different (almost double) those written in the books. And when I asked which was correct, ‘obviously’ the higher one was the reply. The rudeness was (sigh) tiring. I did buy a nice zine though.

I always feel a bit out of my depth in modern art galleries. They are disturbing and unnerving places and this fits the pictures. 5 or 6 rooms of uncomfortable art reflecting the perception of the artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. The video about the death of Tito shows you just how much Slovenia has changed.

Kannattaa tutustua.

2 out of 5! 1 point for a few ok sculptures, 1 point for the fact that it was nice to go inside into the cool as the weather was very hot.
Whilst not an expert in modern art the paintings appeared to fit one of two categories :
1: You would be happy if your 6 year had painted it.
2: Even if your own 6 year old had painted it you would still be disappointed and would complain to his/her art teacher.
Not an expensive museum (5 euros) but abut 5 euros too much.
