Son cuatro "monolitos" en mitad del desierto como a una hora y pico de Doha, para llegar mejor ir en 4x4. El sitio no tiene nada cerca del el, aunque al menos hay un "camino"/pista (lleva a un resort que esta en construcción) con luces solares que te acerca al lugar, y luego hay que salir de la pista y recorrer unos 500 m por el desierto

A beautiful public art sculpture in the middle of nowhere…. Qatar is not just luxury malls, it’s an Art center with beautiful museums and public art.
This particular series of sculptures are located about an hour from Doha, and it’s certainly worth the drive…. It’s very unique and in a personal level to me it meant that Qatar is all the way in the East and while aspiring to get to the West they say not so fast…. Qatar is not Dubai!!! It’s an elevated experience and if you stop here stay for few days to explore the city and the countryside… we had a fantastic time

This art in the desert is fantastic! It consists of four massive weathered steel slabs, positioned amidst desert bluffs, stretching a kilometer from first to last. It says something to every person, but that artistic statement will probably be unique to every viewer. I visited it in April, and would love to see it at dusk, at sunrise, is a dust storm or in the very occasional rainfall; I’m sure it would reflect different perspectives! Amazing art by Richard Serra, who is also the artist of “Seven” behind the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, both well worth a visit.

A four big iron sticks in the middle of the desert. Those sculptures are made by Richard Serra. To him, the content of the work derives from interaction with the viewer, meaning he always has pedestrians in mind. He acknowledges that he can't predetermine what people will make of it.

Firstly, these are very impressive structures in the middle of the desert, quite hard to find and a sturdy off-roader is required. Despite this, this installation is obviously not meant to be seen as we were constantly harassed by security. They came to say wear masks (apart from security I think we must have been the only people for 5km in either direction) and not to play with the sculptures (they are metal plates?) Impressive structures, just not for the public to see.

Around 75km from Doha you really need a 4x4 to see the sculptures and surrounding area safely. Around 5 minute drive off road pass Zekreet village stands the Richard Serra installation. These are impressive monolithic slabs of iron in a fascinating surrounding rock landscape. It was extra enjoyable as all graffiti had been recently completely removed so they stood in their majestic rusting beauty. As always when you get into the countryside and near the coast you appreciate the fresh air away from Doha. It’s still only 1 hour drive from Doha on the new freeways and in my view well worth a trip out. Better to take a guided tour but it is still safe enough in a 4x4 without too arduous conditions. Nice beach at Zekreet to turn the trip into a nice day out.

We went there with a groups of people, driving all the way for almost 2 hours from Doha. To be honest, nothing impressive us just a 4 big giant brick stick in the sand.
If you have nothing to do then why not.
But definitely I will not go there again

The East West / West East installation by the artist Richard Serra serves as an interesting stop on the way to or from the UNESCO Al Reem biosphere in Zekreet. Comprising of a number of monolithic sculptures seemingly facing East to West or vice versa. There is no information on site as to the vision of the artist nor the process which in itself makes it interesting. Being the only person there when I visited I found that the installation gave perspective to me with regard to the size of the surrounding area and man’s influence on nature.
Sadly the art has been vandalized by a#$holes with no respect for art/that which does not belong to them. Perhaps that is a statement on its own?
Worth stopping by and spending a few minutes.

One of the reasons we chose Qatar as a destination on a recent round-the-world trip was to see two sculptures by Richard Serra, a man whose work I greatly admire. The first, "7," stands near Doha's Souq Waqif in an easily accessible area. But "East-West/West-East" looms on the Zehreet Peninsula's Brouq Nature Reserve in the middle of a barren desert, about a 1.5-hour drive west of Doha.
We hired a car and driver, arranged by our hotel, to get there and were glad that we did so. The driver obviously knew where to go once we left the main highway and entered a desert crisscrossed by tracks with nothing clearly signposted. We continued for about 3 miles and eventually reached the sculpture, which has no road leading to it.
The art installation features four monolithic steel plates, two rising 48 feet, 3 inches, and two towering at 56 feet, 10 inches. They are all 5 inches thick and 13 inches wide. These components extend east/west in a straight line for about one-half mile. They appear in an empty corridor between limestone cliffs. I thought the location worked well and that the work now defines the area.
We left our vehicle to look closely at the monoliths, sometimes fighting to proceed against a strong wind. The originally gray steel has oxidized to brown and a dark amber. I was disappointed to see that even in this remote place, graffiti scratched the lower surfaces; but the defacement remains invisible from afar. During our 30-minute stay, we saw no other visitors. But we spied many white oryx and ostriches after driving further into the reserve.
I suggest an off-the-road vehicle and a GPS for art enthusiasts, who want to visit the sculpture independently.

It was an amazing experience going on this desert.
What I advise you is to go on a group at least with two cars. Imagine you are on one car only and it breaks, you are in the middle of desert.
It is really a wonderful experience to see the mushroom rock formations.
Without navigation you be in a trouble, so also go with mobile signal and charger.
The area is mess on traffic/direction signals.
