We were taken up here as part of a Mostar war tour. The view from the top is spectacular. Its worth it to go up there just for the view. As part of the tour we were on, we learned about the positions of the Serb army and how they surrounded and bombarded the city from the top of the mountains, during the Bosnian war in the 1990s.
We also got to learn about, and experience, the Bura wind, which was interesting but I would be happy to not experience that again! We sat in the car with our tour guide for a few minutes when we got to the top of the mountain so he could talk and give us some information. There was a point where I was honestly scared that the wind was going to blow the car right off of the mountain. The car was shaking and moving the entire time we were sitting in it. Once we stepped outside, it was cold from the wind (it was January), but we took some pictures of the beautiful view and our tour guide made sure to get a short video of us struggling to stand upright in the wind. I wish I had looked into what the wind speed was that day. It would have been interesting to know.
So all in all we got a history lesson from the top, we got a beautiful view of the city of Mostar, and we got to experience the famous Bura wind - all in a quick visit to the top of the mountain. I'd definitely recommend taking a drive to the top. Just be mindful of the weather and wind conditions.

I stopped here briefly to admire the view on a tour of Herzegovina. I am told you can walk up but I wouldn;t know the way - I only know that the view is amazing!

Yesterday we hiked up Hum mountain. We found a shortcut through a cemetery (Katolicko Groblje Soinovac). So it's best if you navigate with Google to the cemetery, then you enter it in the lower street and exit the cemetery through the upper entry. You will be on the bigger street now which the other people described before. And from there just follow the Google directions again. The shortcut will save you some time on the bigger street which is quite good because it's narrow and with a lot of cars.

Hike or drive up the road to the top of Hum Hill or Hum Mountain as some refer to it. The cross is very impressive as it stands 33 meters high and was constructed in 2002 to represent the 2,000 years of Christianity. The views of Mostar are spectacular at this height.
This huge cross is perceived by Muslims as offensive to the past hostilities that took place there which divided the Cory during the war.

Cross from the Hum Mountain evoked my interest in it from the first view, when I came to Mostar. I told myself: it's the place where I want to see Mostar from. And I made it! It's not very far from the old town (about 7km), but you must go along the road to Ljubuski. It's not very nice part of the trail. Later you turn left to the narrow asphalt road leading almost to the top. It's Way of the Cross. Hum is 428m high.
On the top you will find a 33m cross which was the bone of contention between Muslims and Catholics during the war. It's not that important like the views you will find there! It's really scenic panorama and I spent there almost an hour staring at Mostar and surrounding mountains. Locals told me that one of them is even much more interesting: Brasina. It's a pity but I had no time to go there. It's almost 1900m high!
