Not good at all. Now they have created fencing all around. Very small area is accessible. 4-5’ pathway created to walk around. You can’t even explore 50% area. No space to seat.

It’s a good place to go out with family. You can take a walk and there is a temple at the center of the park.
Be careful while varying bags, as there are a lot of monkeys.

This is a good place to visit with family and spend 1-2 hours. Place was clean and it has benches to sit.
This tree is very big, very old and spread across a big area.
Nothing much to do here except having a shorts all around tree, taking few snaps and sitting and talking to your family but it’s a good serene place.
You can visit manchanabele from here which is like 10-11 km away from this place.
Just opposite to this there is one veg hotel and we found food to be nice.
Good day trip.

Recently visited Big Banyan Tree near Bengaluru.
The place was closed for some flimsy reasons.
We saw it from outside and there is nothing special to write about the place. It is not kept clean as well.
Though it is a short distance of 24 kms. from south Bengaluru, not worth visiting

This place can be covered as a half day quick trip from Bangalore. Big Banyan tree is 400 years old and covers about 3 acres of land. Good place to visit with family and children . No entry fee. No other attractions apart from the Tree at the site. There are lot of plant nurseries on the way and also there is a Vineyard nearby, maybe these can be combined when you visit the place. Local hotels and restaurants are available near to the site, it is good to carry food if you are planning to spend more time. Otherwise this is a less than 30 mts activity

The Big Banyan tree is gigantic. Locally it is known as Dodda Aalada Mara. It is an amazing place to hang around and spend half a day. As per the records it is 400 years old.It is located in the village of Kethohalli in the Bangalore Urban district of Karnataka, India. I would suggest that you choose to drive out during the morning, so tat you can enjoy a heart breakfast on the way and then spend couple of hours before it get’s all crowed or hot during the later part of the day.
This single Banyan tree covers over 3 across of area and is the home for various species of birds and several hundreds of macaques. There is Lord Munisvara temple inside the premises. Several shops selling incense sticks, oil lamp(diya/deepam) and flowers have also popped near the location.
You can take buses from Bangalore or can travel in your own private vehicle. This makes up an interesting picnic spot. You can easily spend 2-3 hours at this place. There are quite a few eateries near the site, where you can get South Indian food like dosa, Idli, Vada, meals etc. Also, there are plenty of shops selling fast food, chips and aerated drinks. This is quite a famous place, several movies have been shot at this location.
Do take care of your belongings since the macaques which inhabit the place are in the habit of grabbing your stuffs and running away with it. Do not feed the monkeys. We humans are a funny lot, first we feed the monkeys and make them habituated with our offerings and then complain about them being a menace. Sheesh !!!
The tree is looked after the Horticulture department of Karnataka and has been well maintained for several years, even after its main trunk had rotted away.
Kindly remember that is a 400 old heritage and defacing it by craving names and initials on its trunk will in no way ensure that either you or your love story will survive for 400 years. Also, do not litter the place ,there are several well-places dustbins wherein you can dump your garbage.
Overall, a good place to hangout , sit in peace and ruminate under the shade of the Big Banyan Tree.

I can say its a natural wonder .The tree is been chopped now and still has 100 mtrs circumference. There is a temple in the centre. There are a lot of monkeys here and so be alert when you visit.
one may club this visit on the way to Mysore or Melukote.

It is huge tree with 120 mtrs circumference of its branches. There is a temple in the centre. There are a lot of monkeys also. Nothing much to do here. 30 mins to 1 hr is sufficient for this place. Few hawkers are outside you can indulge in some street food.

Yes I think you could do it , but as I said , the tree is fenced off , to avoid vandals writing their names on the tree . You can take photos from outside only , unless you get a permission from local wardens or managers

Is the place open 24/7? Would it be safe to visit the place at night?
Rédigé le 22 décembre 2016
No, it closes at 6pm. This place is little isolated, not advised to visit at night.

I have a pug so was wondering, if this a pet friendly spot. Would be helpful if I get a quick reply as I'm planning to go in a few hours.
