We usually ignore the origin of the names of busy roads in India. Because of the traffic and crowds one may skip looking at what lies along the road for years. This temple is one such classic case of history slipping through. While from the road it seems just like an old building, this is a unique place of worship as it is a samadhi temple dedicated to Jangali Maharaj who was a saint living in Pune in the late 18th century. His origins are highly debated amongst locals with some even claiming that he was a Muslim and pointing out the Mazar like structures of the samadhis. However, he is highly revered by the locals as evident from the continual stream of devotees.

Despite being on a crowded road, the temple is an oasis of calm. Perhaps the whole layout of the place is designed to induce calmness. The main samadhis are at the second level and one encounters a fish/turtle pond at the first level. The wooden building is open from all sides so there is ample natural air and light. One can sit in the main hall for hours peacefully. There is also a separate section for students to sit and study. Surprisingly none of the noise from the road below seems to reach the temple. The premises are super clean.

An opening in the wall has steps leading to the ancient rock cut Pataleswar cave temple which is the oldest structure in Pune.

The Jangali Maharaj temple is closed in the afternoon from 1 pm to 4 pm.

Abode of serenity. The vibrations are very strong and positive. So much that it can even put a non meditator to meditation. Whenever I visit pune I make it a point to not miss this place. After you are finished meditating, you can relish sabudana wadas n chat from the Hindavi Swarajya stalls located bang opposite to the samadhi

This is very calm and quite place in Pune. Just beside Palaleshwar Cave temple in Shivajinagar , Pune. You can visit any time of the day. But most suitable time is evening. They do very nice mind relaxing chanting in the evening.

If you are travelling by vehicle there is small space front of the temple. You can park your vehicle there. But most of the time this road is very busy. So you may not find place to parking.

Just beside this temple you can have your foods at JM food corner, there are so many varieties of foods.

If you visit Pune. This temple is one of the must visit place and dont forget to visit Pataleshwar temple and JM food corner just nearby.

This temple is dedicated to a saint or sage called jangli maharaj. He loved here in the 18 th century , very little is known about him . But this huge land is dedicated for his samadhi. This location is serene & has very strong positive vibrations. One can visit here for meditation & you will be able to catch those vibes immediately. Spirituality lovers must visit this temple at least once.

Last Sunday I have visited this place. The famous road in Pune is named after Junglee Maharaj. People know very little about this place and saint. This temple is dedicated to Junglee Maharaj who lived here in the late 19th century. It is believed that he came from Baroda and lived in Pune. Temple is a very peaceful place in Pune city.

I don't know why temples have such a calmness in them, This temple is beautifully built located in middle of the Pune city.

As soon as you enter here your mind instantly go for peace, the caves are silent, if you make a little sound it will echo.

I love the place and will go here again.
