This garden which was closed/ partially open during pandemic has been opened for public this Jan 2023 and is in full bloom. It is visited by public at large and there were wide variety of flowers placed in the garden. From 26th Jan to 29th Jan a fair was organized in this place related to the gardening and associated activity. It had an entry ticket of Rs.50/- with no dearth of parking place. It was a thoroghly enjoyable experience for about 3 hrs.

Empress Gardens in the city of Pune, like Queen Victoria , seems to have been there forever.
Not in the league of great gardens, it provides the much needed oxygen to this congested city and is a welcome respite for citizens and their growing families particularly on weekends.
A good way to relax.

It's sad that this place is not at its potential yet. It needs a lot of improvement and maintenance...It has a lot of potential to become an amazing place to walk around and for kids to play.

We visited last year in December 2020 and while we were grateful it was open during the pandemic, it was kind of sad. The place is really bare and hardly any botanical aspect left to it really :( Would love to see more plants and flowers around.

We tried walking the few paths in it but there was hardly anything interesting to see or enjoy and there was trash around everywhere so that was disheartening.

There is a massive playarea for kids so our then 2.5 year old daughter had a lot of fun.

I hope this place gets a good renovation going and becomes what it can :)

The entry fess is 20 rs. There is ample parking space for 2 and 4 wheelers. Once you enter inside there are some swings, slides and other activities for kids. Some of them like balloon shooting and some water games are paid. The garden is not so big though. There is a nursery inside but was closed. Authorities need to pay some attention for its maintenance

Empress Garden is nothing but a picnic and meeting spot for localities and young ones . Best time to visit in winters for the Flowers show. Not a suitable place for a family to visit with children. For a big group picnic can be arranged. Nothing great otherwise for this place. As per history it was made in 18 th century and named in honor of Queen Victoria as Empress of India.

Dunno what makes this messy place so very special. It's more of a meeting point for lovers and parents will have a tough time to explain what the "love birds" are doing.

Created in 1838 The Empress Botanical Gardens Pune is named in honour of Queen Victoria when she held the title of ‘Empress of India’.
Visitors have waxed eloquent about the beauty of the garden and its Annual Flower Show in the winter. To maintain a showpiece garden - most large cities in the
world have one - however is no mean task and the administrators seem to rest content with its public acceptance as a picnic spot-cum-entertainment park and haven for courting couples instead of a botanical garden.
While the garden itself is spruced up and is well accessed by visitors and families, especially at weekends,it leaves a lot to be desired and is in dire need of
expert management to be world class. The quality of the Nursery, range of flora and general management needs to be upgraded.
However if the Empress Botanical Gardens did not exist one would have to create one.

This park was recommended to me by my hotel. Cheap entry - 20 rupees or so - but it's not very large, and there's little to see. It might be a good place to bring children, as there is a decent play area, which appeared very popular with the locals. I was a bit surprised to walk down a short avenue where every single bench was occupied by young couples kissing and cuddling (quite intensely, even by western standards). I'm told that this is considered a 'couples park', which essentially means it's where young people go to meet their forbidden lovers without their parents' knowledge!

This is a beautiful garden. At a little awkward location but worth a visit. A water fountain with flashing colors. A small train and other play items for children. Tall trees to give you shade. Good parking space. A visit once in a while shall refresh you and your family. Do visit when the arrange flower show.
