It is located between Sam Poh Tong Cave and Ling Tong Sen Cave. It is a Taoist temple in its nature and its other alternative name is Nan Dao Yuan ("Nam Tou Yun" in Cantonese), means College of Southern Religious Principles).
Legend says that it was discovered by a Chinese Taoist priest named Kuong San Teik back in 1867, which means this temple has a long history of over 120 years. In fact, according to a well-preserved historical journal maintained by the temple management committee, this current Taoist high priest is in its fourth generation management.

We were in the area and decided to visit this place, the place is nice with art work on the cave walls and statues etc. There is some ponds with fish in which is nice. There are stairs to go further up into the cave however we only stayed on the lower parts of the cave. Nice place to visit

Temple premises is beautiful and they have a nice pond too to feed fishes and turtles etc.
The priest was kind enough to show us and explain the rituals - very humble person.
It’s situated next to Ling Sen Tong temple.
A must visit attraction.

After touring the Ling Sen Tong we walked over a raised pavement through an arch to the grounds of this interesting temple. One can also drive to the entrance as it is situated right next door sharing the same road. Nam Thean Tong, one of Ipoh's oldest cave temples having been established in 1867 by a Chinese priest called Kuong San Teik.
The main deity of this cave temple is the Supreme Patriarch of Taoism Lao Tze / Lao Zi, also known as Tai Shang Lao Zun. Additionally, there’s General Kuan Ti, God of Heaven (Jade Emperor), Emperor of the North, and de facto leader of the Eight Immortals, Lǚ Dòngbīn. Like most old limestone cave temples in Ipoh, there are many meaningful paintings on the walls of the cave.
The most interesting is climbing up the 239 steps to the very top of the cavern. These steps are in stages with landing in between and once you reach the middle section the floor is propped up with steel sheets. Walking on these sheets is testy cos some are slightly wobbly. Other than this it is an easy climb all the way.

This is a very nice place to visit. There are many historical temples here, but it can be quite far from the city centre to visit. Worth it when making a trip to the other attractions around this place.

南天洞就位於靈仙岩的旁邊,參觀完靈仙岩往旁邊走,就會到南天洞,這間寺廟也跟靈仙岩一樣,有一部份是建於洞窟裡面,算是怡保當地的特色。

Ling Sen Tong Temple, Nam Thean Tong Temple and Sam Poh Tong Temple are located along the same lane, side by side. You can see Ling Sen Tong Temple along the main road. After you turn in the lane, you can see Nam Thean Tong Temple further down and thereafter, Sam Poh Tong Temple inside a stretch of tiled wall.
We didn't go into Sam Poh Tong Temple as my mom said she had visited it before. It is more spacious and easier to park at Nam Thean Tong Temple. So we parked at Nam Thean Tong Temple to explore both Ling Sen Tong Temple and Nam Thean Tong Temple. There is a walkway which connects both temples but you need to be able to lift your leg high enough to cross the doorsill.
We only explored the outside of Nam Thean Tong Temple as my mom didn't want to go into the caves. The outside of the temple has a big statue of Taishang Laojun (太上老君), 12 Chinese Zodiac ’Luck Spinning Wheels?‘ and a bridge termed the longevity bridge. Not much shelter. Better bring umbrella.
There are shops nearer to the temple selling health shoes, drinks and small souvenir items.

Rapat山に張り付いている道教の洞くつ寺院の一つです。かなり奥のほうまで広がっている洞くつでした。階段があったのでどんどん登っていったら結構高いところまで続いていて疲れました。
