OMG, this is biggest waste of money. There are cheaper show in Hangzhou that have better story line and affects. This one had none. It’s basically a bunch of different acts that are bundled together and sold it for a very expensive price. I saw the original show 17 years ago and loved it. Loved the original story line, loved the original presentations, and loved the original affects. The original version had a storyline revolving around the love story of XuXian and the white snake who can materialize herself as BaiNianZi. The new version had nothing. The new version had swan lake ballet to piano performance to some little kid singing. DO NOT waste your time and money. My family and I regretted the whole 50 minutes duration.

If you only have a night in Hangzhou, come watch this performance - great light show, great sound system, great choreography, great everything. However if you come during winter, make sure you are well protected as the performance is in the open.

After a satisfying dinner at Nong Tang Li Restaurant nearby, we viewed this amazing water show on the edge of West Lake. The lake was transformed with sets and underwater supports that allowed dozens of actors and soloists to literally walk on the surface of the lake.
With authentic costumes typical of the Song Dynasty, the staging was impressive and well-coordinated, given the number of players. The lighting and water acrobatics were very effective with changing colors of light and interplay of effects.
Our China Discovery Tours provided VIP reserved seating in the center. The simultaneous mass exodus was shoulder-to-shoulder until we reached our mini-van.

西湖のほとりで，数百人は居ると思われる踊り手が，光と噴水とともに繰り広げる，一大スペクタクルショーです．時間は1時間ですが，その美しさに，あっという間に時間が経ってしまいました．G20の首脳が鑑賞したというのも納得です．

This is as said elsewhere impressive to watch as it is performed on water. We thinks some of the performers were wearing wellies.
And it looks the part worth impressive lighting and presentation.
But..... we also saw the Yangshuo show a few days ago.
This Hangzhou equivalent is not as good. This is more a collection of set pieces that don't tell a tale or hang together. More China's Got Talent on Water.
And the Chinese do talk throughout. Two groups just a few rows behind us appeared to be arguing across the barrier between VIP and ordinary seats. I'd had enough so stood up and shouted "Just shut the f*** up!" at them and that did the trick,

The history of Hangzhou, from its mythical beginnings, through the Southern Song Dynasty, to its prosperous present, is told though light, music and dance, with the West Lake itself as the stage. The Dance of the Swans is a highlight.

燈光秀是不錯的，只是表演的內容有點讓人失望，並沒有把西湖的特色或是故事展現出來。少了點特色的感覺，表演也有點普通。

The show was spectacular! Amazing lights, beautiful dances and music. It was raining when I went, I bummed out at first but in fact it's even more magical. Be sure to get the VIP seats to have a good view of the show. My only downside is they should've closed the gates 15 minutes before the show starts. There were groups that got in late, blocking the view, talking so loud with their flashes on because it's already quite difficult to find seats with the lights on let alone in the dark.

Excellent show! Dancers, musicians, performers on a couple inches of water with an amazing light show.
It's almost exactly an hour long.
They go rain or shine, so if it's raining, dress appropriately. Even in the warmer months, bring layers, because it could get chilly at night.
We got VIP seats, which guarantees front and center, but because the stage is so wide, I don't think it really matters.

This performance is meant to wow the World leaders when they met up few years ago in Hangzhou. Enough set on the expectation of the standards of display.
There are hundred of professional performers in this 1 hour show. Recommend to get a VIP ticket which will give you a good view of the performance and a closer look at some of the singers.
All performances are in mandarin with subtitle in the large led billboards. Expect to see big colorful backdrop of West Lake while the dancers performed.

These are for the first two rows. I don’t think it makes a big difference except you get some freebies like a drink. Get the VIP and not standard tickets.

Has anyone purchased the VVIP tickets for this show (660 CNY = around 100 USD)? Are they located in the 2 rows in the very front rows - the ones that look like yard chairs rather than theatre seats? If you have, please let me know what was your experience?
