It is possible to have good museums, with everything preserved, treated gardens and with beautiful monuments. Congratulations to those responsible for the restoration!

I was visiting hj the Museum and was surprised by the lack of many pieces of the season. There were chairs, liters, chariots, various clothes. Are they being restored or where are these pieces?

It is worth visiting after the reform to know or review:
1. one of the most famous paintings of the history books, Independence or Death, by Pedro Américo.
2. Also the iconic garden in French style.
3. as a whole, the museum resembles European palaces.

The building and the gardens are magnificent.
The great historical paintings of Pedro Américo, Benedito Calixto and Oscar Pereira da Silva, idem.
And all this already fully justifies the visit.
Collections of taxidermia, banknotes, coins, decorations and dishes are now less indispensable. The current exhibition of objects of common use, worthy but unworthy of musealization, is frankly controversial, in a museum whose theme should focus on discovery, colonial period, independence and empire.
Attention to the frame of the portrait of Santos Dumont (without portrait!) and the six screens of Ferrigno whose theme is coffee.

Nice museum that gives a good flavor of Brazilian history. 1.5 hours is sufficient to visit the museum and the grounds including the Independence monument. Must see the Independence room in the museum. Great paintings. Top floor affords a magnificent view.

I've seen a lot of difference since my visit at school and now almost 20 years later. It has changed a lot in relation to the exhibited items but it is still a beautiful, enriching museum and a space that must be visited. With an addendum that is very worth climbing up the viewpoint and see the entire area of the park from above

Very beautiful museum. It is a monument that does not lose anything for any European construction. Very organized at the entrance, with sale of personal ticket and by auto service (totem digital). The exhibited pieces portray the history of Brazil, with artworks portraying the characters and historical moments. It is important to note that although most of the pieces are related to the history of the museum and independence, it is not a museum exclusively about independence, which makes the experience richer. The gardens in front are magnificent and the view is fantastic.

I am from Paulistan and I met the Museum in my childhood. I don't intend to pay to go back there and not find a collection about the Independence and still listen to the left-wing of the monitors (I can still have this kind of opinion in Brazil?). See the comments of who is from SP and met the Museum before the reform.

Negative points:
We went to the Museum today with our children, thinking that it was going to show them the history we knew from the school time, with all the collection of Don Pedro, with his chariot, his clothes etc, however, we were totally frustrated with the new collection that is not from the time of Don Pedro and decades of contemporary .( a plastic jar in the shape of pineapple).
Another thing is the security staff very poorly prepared , getting poorly educated because they can not give an information with education.
The entrance of the Museum is hidden and without signage, making it difficult for people with difficulty in locomotion to access.
We only found a single Guide in the Museum and it expressed its political ideologies instead of explaining the story to those interested.
Some rooms under maintenance and others we found very tight with excess illustrative panel.
The sessions with hearing interactions were not working.
scheduling via the internet , because if you get there and want to buy you run the risk of not getting a ticket .
Positive points
All environments had access for people with visual impairments.
But taking all this out the restoration this LINDAAA , and worth the visit , but without much expectation .
