It took us almost 1 hour to reach this place from Candolim and the way towards it is really beautiful. The temple itself is situated near a hill at Narve near Bicholim.
There is a committee office nearby where we met the in-charge Mr. Morajkar Sir who was really delighted to tell us all the history of the temple, its association with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and current work.
As per the information, we received, this temple was built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 1668 who himself laid the foundation stone. The temple has a Shivalinga. The idol of Bhagwan Mahadev is shifted to nearby Kalbhairav temple due to restoration work, but still it is possible to have darshan.

This an ancient temple I do visit on every Goa trip. Located in interior accessible by road. The temple is under renovation. They are using the old and local construction techniques of sand, lime stone jaggery mixture instead of cement. Later it will be paiting with local Kaavi art. The project is scheduled for 20 months.
Will be great to see the lost the glory once the work is complete.
There are two ancient caves at 10-15min walking distance next to lake.

This Saptakoteshwar Mandir has a history right from the year 950, in the period of King Kadamba Dynasty. It has a very long history.
It is one of the most Auspicious place in India.
The Siva Linga of this Mandir was displaced, tried to destroy by enemies several times.
Today it is under Archaeology dept for maintenance & restoration work.
The local Trust has taken care of this Mandir very well for years.

The Saptakoteshwar temple at Goa is considered to be one of the six great sites of temples of Lord Shiva in the Konkan area. The temple was built by the King of the Kadamba dynasty around the twelfth century. Good architecture.

You have to travel deep-deep into an authentic Goa village to reach this place. Its surrounded by Cashew forest so plan your visit during the month of April-May. The environment here is fascinating and the temple has some history attached with it.

Located in the interiors so the surroundings are serene & quiet and its a place of historical importance as well. The foundation stone for this Temple was laid by the Great Maratha Warrior Shivaji in 1668. Appropriate attire is essential when visiting this temple. 349 year old temple ( in 2017 ) & its impressive architecture will be restored with the assistance of the Archeology Department.
