Catedral bonita por dentro e por fora. É um lugar tranquilo e parece ter uma escola ou orfanato ao lado.

This Roman Catholic cathedral is the seat of the Archbishop of Bombay and headquarters of the Archdiocese of Bombay. Opened for worship on 15th Jan, 1905, this Gothic church was designed by Walter Ashridge Chamber of Gosling Chambers and Fritchley. The magnificent glass stained windows behind the altar were imported from Munich. The frescoes on the ceiling depicting scenes from the old and new testament were painted by Brother A. Moscheni SJ.

This part of Mumbai is teeming with beautiful historical buildings in various states of repair. The street on which the church is located is a leafy avenue with many fine old buildings.
The church itself fits right in. It is a well-maintained structure despite being over 200 years old. The highlight is the interior, especially its stained glass window and frescoed ceilings. However, a short visit will probably suffice.

We stopped at this Cathedral on our way from Sassoon Docks. Very beautiful architecture.
It's not a must-see/do but definitely worth a visit if you're in the neighbourhood.
Recommended!

In the busy Mumbai city sandwiched between Nariman point and the Gateway of India there is a quiet and silent road called Woodhouse road (named after PG woodhouse relation). In that road is quiet silent but imposing Church called the Cathedral of the Holy Name . It is a Roman Catholic cathedral and the seat of the Archbishop of Bombay .It Is more than 100 years old. One of the most beautiful churches in western India. Its Frescoes on the ceiling of the Cathedral is very lively. In fact your neck pains, because there is so much to see. It window panes are beautifully stained glass.
Their stations of the cross photographs around the church are hand painted and are priceless. Every interior part of the church is hand painted. It is clean and well maintained
Its white marble altar with its decorative design is really an artist delight. On the side of the pillar are the statues of different saints... its spiral steps to the choir loft is indeed beautiful.
It is known for its frescoes, pipe organ, a large gold embroidered stole gifted by Pope John XXIII, and another by Pope Pius XII containing the red hat given to Cardinal Valerian Gracias, and a bell gifted by Pope Paul VI during the 38th International Eucharistic Congress held in Mumbai in 1964.
It is one of the two more known cathedrals in the city, the other being the older, Anglican, Cathedral of St. Thomas the Apostle..
If it all one visit Mumbai, then this church is a must see along with the gateway of India.
It is one of the few churches in India where there is a daily afternoon mass at 1.15 pm mostly for the office goers of that area (colaba to nariman point)
