It's a temple, a sacred place for some people.
juil. 2020
This place, I cannot rate it, actually. It's a temple, a sacred place for some people. But, if you want to come here just for a tour, it's not a bad place. This temple is very broad, broader than any regular temples in Semarang, with tall, red, oriental style buildings. You have to pay to enter the temple and pay again for certain temple. I came here for sightseeing in the middle of Chinese New Year. It was very crowded, with lots of food and beverage stalls. The tourists usually brings their family here, so I found this temple was not as serene as other temple, but again, that day was Chinese New Year. Even though people bought their foods, but this place was relatively clean. The instruction signs are easy to read, so people can actually know what should they do. The downside is there was not enough employees to remind the tourist to respect the temple, so some people sitting in the stairs freely without any guilt. It's a nice place and it would not hurt you to pay a visit.

Very attractive temple next to Hang Li Po Well
mars 2019 • En couple
We saw this as part of our day trip to Malacca. It is right next to Hang Li Po Well. When we visited it was very quiet, which was great, but I suspect that as it is part of these tours it can become quite crowded. Very uneven ground, so not great for people with mobility issues. A few stalls selling souvenirs and fruit. Bizarrely we were approached by Western Jehovah's Witnesses - not what we were expecting!

Must Visit Historic Site
déc. 2018 • Entre amis
Going back to 1457 when Admiral Cheng Ho was in Malacca during the Sultan Mansur Shah's reign. A rich history of Malacca well ahead of the Portuguese and Dutch arrival in Malacca. A well maintained heritage of Malacca. A visit to Malacca without visiting Sam Poh Kong is not complete journey of historic Malacca..

Tua Pek Kong Temple
oct. 2018 • En famille
This very popular temple dedicated to Tua Pek Kong is located at the foot of Bukit Cina and next to Hang Li Po Well. There were a few bus loads of tourist when we visited and there were lots of stalls selling fruits and drinks in the lot next to the temple. The heritage gallery at the back of the temple gives insight into the immigrant Chinese as well as the history of the temple. A statue of Admiral Zhang He or Cheng Ho stands here.

A historic temple with a heritage gallery
oct. 2018 • En couple
This temple is also known as the Poh San Teng Temple, and was completed in 1795, making it over 220 years old. It's at the foot of Bukit Cina, and it lies next to the 559-year-old Hang Li Poh's Well, so you might want to plan a visit to all three landmarks at the same time.

It's a small but well-maintained temple, and there's plenty of see in terms of architecture and religion. What impressed me was the humble heritage gallery at the back of the temple. Most Buddhist / Taoist temples I've visited do not have this, so it can be challenging to find out more about a temple's history and context. Not so for this temple. The gallery gave us a clear idea of its history and context, and the wider story of the ethnic Chinese in Malaya, which goes further back than many would imagine. I left the place with a greater appreciation of its heritage value.

If you're a dog or cat lover, do check out the temple's cute pets! It has a dog and two cats, all docile. One cat slept on a table and continued sleeping even as a tour guide came over with a full group and started lecturing about the place! Adorable.

Templo histórico mas com pouca relevância actualmente, pelo menos pela preservação e fraca presença de turistas. De qualquer maneira, recomendo uma visita ao local.
