I was in the Shanghai Edition late, late, late last night with few new friends. We were in the Roof Garden, playing Jenga Tower (Origin: Ghana/UK/US) and betting shots. Everybody was super drunk soon after the kamikaze, except me. It was a Drunk Drama for next few hours. I left after 2am and stayed near the Bund.
This morning, I came out from Waldorf Astoria on the Bund. It's a beautiful sunny autumn morning. I was just walking on the Bund. After few minutes, I stopped in front of the Shanghai Municipal Archive (Bund Branch). I was curious. I came inside. From ground floor to second floor to sixth floor and coming down slowly floor by floor. All the walls full of pictures, documents and stories. A beautiful morning surprise!
It's all about Shanghai. Past, Present and Future. I spent an hour and came out from the building, thinking, I lived in this city over 11 years, why it took me so long to visit this archive full of Story of Shanghai?
Now, I need to think and think and think and go back to the Shanghai Municipal Archive with a strategy. Possibly, once or twice with my son (age: nine). Because he can read, write and speak Mandarin. And later with my daughter (age: seven), who is also learning how to write and read Mandarin. She speaks fluent Mandarin. Anyway, one trip is not enough. Next time, we go back soon for several hours. Because lot more beautiful stories and surprises waiting for us. After all, Shanghai is a City, always full of surprises.

Located in one of the many 1920's buildings along the Bund this free museum displays a substantial historical record of early Shanghai up to the present day.
The displays are well set out with almost all having a Mandarin and English descriptions, enabling visitors to well understand how Shanghai has developed to become a great city of China, and in fact the world.
