Don't have high expectations, the most interesting place is the cistern. The museum is in a restored ancient granary, but its contents are poor. There are places where animations were made with projection, but the animations were not working. Outside the museum, there are replica ships and port machines, which were also destroyed. You can enter with a Müzekart, there is a museum card discount at the cafe at the entrance, but even after the discount, the prices are far from reasonable (the cornet ice cream I bought for 40₺ from a market in Kalkan the day before is 135₺ here, I paid 108₺ with the discount).

I made a special plan for the ancient city of Andriake, which I wanted to see for a long time. Since I was in a wheelchair, we explained the situation to the staff at the entrance and they helped us a lot.
They allowed us to drive next to the museum through a separate gate.
The museum attendant was also very caring and I was very happy with this helpful attitude towards disabled individuals in our country.
The museum is beautifully designed, but since the building itself is original, it is a visual feast that is as valuable as the works inside. The museum building was originally built for the storage of commercial goods and has survived to the present day.
There is a very large cistern right next to the museum building and it met the water needs of the ships coming to this port for trade. Actually, I know that it was restored very well, but I couldn't enter because I was in a wheelchair.
You can get detailed information about this city with the narration of Ümit Işın in the Anatolian Archeology documentary series.
Definitely a must see place and many thanks to all the staff for their help.

The port area of Myra, one of the 6 largest cities of Lycia. It is an area worth seeing along with the Lycian Civilizations Museum at the end of the ancient city tour. For those who are more interested, the trip can take hours, our trip was around 1.5 hours. It can be reached by turning left again after leaving Demre center towards Kaş. After this last turn, you will immediately see stopped cars on your left and people entering the water. I recommend you stop there and soak in the sulfuric, ice-cold spring water.

To be clear - this is a tourist path outside the city, about 500 m long. Parking and toilets at the start, air-conditioned museum at the end of the walk. The bank wants Turkish liras in cash. You can buy some trinket in the museum shop, pay in EUR in cash, the lady will give you lira...
It seems a bit of an underrated place. But in the museum there are some very interesting exhibits to see up close (or to touch illegally).

Visiting Andriake means visiting Likia Uygarlıklari Müzesi. The site is visible from the main road in state of beautiful ruins. My favorite is the cistern in Andriake. I never saw other cistern apart from the ones in Istanbul, still intact with its columns. It is no wonder as Andriake is the port of Myra ancient city.

Future visitors can combine the visit of Myra and Andriake in a day. Not sure if Andriake is reachable by public transport.

Andriake is the harbour of Myra in classical times but has long since silted up. The main structure surviving is the horrea (granary) built during the reign of Roman Emperor Hadrian around 125 AD. One of the 3 best persevered Roman granaries in the world. One of the others is 40km away in Patara. At Andriake the granary has been rebuilt as the Museum of Lycian Civilisations and houses many interesting finds that escaped the clutches of the museums of Western Europe, Istanbul and Antalya. Not sure what I think about the reconstruction of these ancient buildings but the aircon in the museum is welcome in the summer heat. Exhibits are presented clearly with good signage.

Beside this granary is a large heap of Murex shells, evidence that Andriake had an ongoing operation for the production of purple dye

No AC for Luke, the biblical author, and Paul the Apostle when they came through here on their journey from Caesarea to Rome for Paul’s trial. Is the reconstruction of the Roman port anything like that where they waited for their next ship, most likely a grain ship?

Demre Andriake Örenyeri and Likya Uygarliklari Muzes costs 12.50 TL compared to the 55TL for Myra but there is more to see here.

Easy parking and a fairly level site. Small gift shop and cafe.

Wading birds to watch in the estuary alongside Andriake.

Alüvyonlarla deniz bağlantısı kapanmış durumda şu an.
