- The best place to stay in "Mut" City: At or in-between "Police Station" Sq. & "Hospital" Sq. where everything around: 2 InterCity Bus St. + Local Mini Bus Terminal + Shopping Area so you can buy V.G. original Products: Palms / Olive Oil / Honey / Spices / ...
- The Characters of People in this Remote area & Oasis & close the Borders are much better than in the Capital & Delta ... So, You can Relax & Navigate to the surrounding Attractions using cheap Mini bus like: "Al Qasr" Village = 30 km W. + 5 EGP & 'Balat" = 40 km E. + 7 EGP & ...

Absolutely put Dakhla Oasis on your list! It feels incredibly safe and there are a handful of gorgeous monasteries, tombs, mummies, and villages to explore. There are zero tourists here but there should be! This area feels entirely untouched by time, please come visit.

I have been in dakhla for only one night as it was the final destination after a 415 km off-roading in the great sand sea coming from abu minqar. Just seeing this great green oasis from the desert is overwhelming. I assumed the desert around el dakhla is stunning , we were coming at night so I didn't see much but it is surrounded with nice sand dunes and other great rocky formation .

The people of al dakhla is amazingly nice and we stayed there in al dohous village in a camp called Bedouin camp which is owned by al rashaida family and it was superb and authentic place.

In the morning we went to the hot spring in al dohous village which is a small hot spring that operates from 6am to 4 pm and its sulphide / iron hot water at around 40 degree celsius.

We then went to Al Qasr which is the old Islamic city that have history dates from pharaohs, romans and Islamic times and it is renovated and preservers with lots of mazes as streets and ruins in addition to very well preserved buildings that can be accessed and enjoyed such as the school, mosque, olive oil factory and court. There is also a museum and local houses that sells local products.

We stayed only for 1.5 hour but defiantly it needs minimum 3-4 hour to understand the place and needs 2 visits at least

I will sure come back to see this beautiful oasis and roam around it as it should be. Recommended minimum 2 nights in dakhla to absorb its beauty.

I just got back from two places in the Dakhla Oasis in Upper Egypt.

The first was the Temple in Deir el-Hagar. It is a well preserved temple with amazing reliefs. It was built in the 1st century BC and has cartouches (names in an oval) of Nero, Vespasian, Titus and Domitian. It has a row of column bases which is all that is left of its hypostyle hall, but has a very well preserved inner chamber (holy of holies, or sanctuary)

The second place I went was the Muzawaka Tombs. Again, there was no one there but me and my group but there are two tombs with excellent color and you can buy a permit to take photos inside. There also is a small chamber where four mummies lay side by side still in situ.

We went by bus to Dakhla it had many lovely sightseeings. Some of them are pharonic, Persian,.Roman and Islamic.

We spent few hours and the guards at each.sight were very helpful.

We did not need to pay for any tickets just for tips.

Extraordinary medieval/Ottoman town. Portions of the old village have been thoughtfully restored to provide a glimpse of how other oasis towns looked before the New Valley development projects had their way with them; the effect is pure magic. Several hundred people still live in the town that not so long ago was home to several thousand.
NP. Don't try to roam around inside all by yourself, you can easily get lost amidst the narrow alleys.

The Dakhla Oasis is large and lightly populated, but filled with both historical sites and beautiful landscapes. You can visit Pharonic, Roman, Islamic and prehistoric sites, enjoy splendid natural beauty and bird-watching, hike, soak in a hot spring, or simply explore the small towns of Mut and El Qasr. People in Dakhla are friendly and a pleasure to spend time with.
