Must Visit when you are in Wai / Panchgani. Nana Phadnavis Wada is a quaint home to Nan Phadnavis. The best part was the audio guide tour, the different traditional games you could play there and the sword, shield and Peshwa hat you could wear

Recently went to this place with our Royal Enfield Motorcycling Club King's Royal Riders.
Was pretty impressed to see this part Maratha history almost in it's past glory if not in 100% but much better than most of the one's that I have been to.
I think what lacks in a state like Maharashtra with such a great history be it culturally and the various rulers that have been a part of it is non preservation of the monument which tells about the past of Maharashtra.
We were charged 50 each for the entry which has the inclusion of guide too. Also, I think this amount charged is valid too in order to preservation and the restoration of the place too.
Once the tour of the wada is over people can buy different souvenirs too from here which would have your name written in Modilipi.
Located just behind the wada is the Menawali temple.

I'm glad to share that we had an awesome trip with Western Routes to Wai! It was a fantastic experience with wonderful people, visited lovely heritage temples, explored Nana Fadnavis Wada, enjoyed a delicious lunch at Anandvan, and had a day full of fun and meeting new people.

The opportunity to visit heritage temples in Wai was a captivating experience. Exploring the history and cultural significance of such sites can offer a deep sense of connection to the past and a better understanding of the region's heritage. Jayesh knows his stuff and the way he explains it, its super mesmerizing to hear him.

Nana Fadnavis Wada, known for its historical importance, adds another layer of interest to the trip. We explored the historical buildings, the intricate wood work done on ceilings, ancient paintings on the wall, secret rooms, it was such an enriching experience, providing insights into the architectural style and lifestyle of a bygone era.

We also had a chance to savor a yummy lunch at Anandvan (still miss the chicken and kadi). Jayesh ensures that food can greatly enhance any trip, and he does it flawlessly everytime.

Finally, the day was full of fun and meeting new people and our old time sweethearts @aaroo, @vabiz, @farhad was super memorable and an enjoyable experience.

Overall, our review highlights the positive aspects of your trip to Wai with Western Routes, including the awesome trip itself, lovely people and co-travelers, the lovely heritage temples, the visit to Nana Fadnavis Wada and Vihir, the delicious lunch at Anandvan, and to relish strawberry cream at Mapro was a perfect end to our trip. We had a blast and wonderful memories during our journey.

Jayesh, we really cant get to see more with you....

Whether you are a history buff or not, a visit to Nana Phadnavis wada is a must if you are visiting Wai or Panchgani. For a history lover I would recommend a special trip to Wai , just to visit this lovingly restored place. Having visited similar places in Europe, I always felt sad about indifference to such historically important places in India. Fortunately the Menavalikar family, hairs to Nana's estate has restored the wada. The audio guide is so well that it brings the history alive in front of your eyes. You are amazed to hear how a man with his brain power could keep the British away from capturing India till he was alive. He was a diplomat of highest calibre. The audio guide makes you conversant with the safety features of the wada as well as traditions existing then. Do go for the 55 minutes audio guide. It's worth every rupee spent and homage to a great character.

Wada (house) is partially open to public. You can visit it with a small entry fee. Audio guide is also available which provides information about wada and it's rooms, history behind it. There is a river and ghat behind it , which is a serene place. However wish it was more clean.

This is the traditional house of the famous Nana Phadnavis. The house is under renovation. There is an entry fee of Rs. 40 and there are a couple of guides who explain the salient features. The payment for the guide is voluntary. It is an interesting to study the traditional build and architecture. The backyard of the house which is restricted to visitors leads to the riverbank.

The administration charged entry fee for outsiders but entry is free for locals. When we visited some local boys group ( of 8 people ) with two girls entered. We were a group of four people visited on 08 Feb 2022. That group turned out to be a bunch of hooligans, followed us in the wada and tried to misbehave with us. We came to visit such a nice historical place but we left hurriedly with a bad taste in heart.
The trust and administration should take a note of this and act upon it.

This is an ancestral wada (family house) of the rulers of Satara and Wai. They have maintained it well, take a guide at nominal charges and they explain the structure of the entire wada and also give a nice tour. Many spots to click nice pictures. You get a very nice relaxed and calm feeling once you are inside.
There are many peculiar trees here which are unique.

Just behind this wada, there is a road which goes to a ghat. Its a big ghat with Shiva temple and many picturistic spots.

Nana Phadnavis Wada is located near Menwalai Ghat and is an old house built for the minister of Shivaji - Nana Phadnavis. This is about 400 years old and still stands erect. There is an entry ticket, a ticket for taking mobile snaps but it is worth it. There is a free guide Mr Deshpande who explains the nitty-gritty of this old mansion. House is under renovation and some part is still being used by the family of Phadnavis. A must visit place when you are around this area.

We reached the location following the maps. A very sleepy town indeed. The huge banyan tree at the entrance amazed me. The elderly vilkage folk were sitting around. The Wada is under restoration yet one could get a feeling of royalty n wondered about the lifestyles of people so many years ago.
The house is situated near the river and a set up of old temples. The water is kept clean. A good trip here.
