The place reflects the memories of Rabindranath Tagore. It is a large area and the exterior is well planned and constructed. The interior has lots of pictures of the poet. It is a good place for a day long visit.

Visited this wonderful historical place on 14 February after 38 years. A place that reflects the memories of the first Indian Bengali Nobel laureate Rabindranath Thakur. Must give credit to the Department of Archeology, Bangladesh for their praiseworthy effort in maintaining the place so nicely. The exterior is well planned and constructed. The enterior is a little congusted though having few memoires and lots of pictures of the poet.
One can drive down to the place following Dhaka-Kushtia road via Rajbari. It takes about five and half an hour. After visiting the place can fall back to Dhaka if wishes but it will be tiring. Better to pass a night at Kushtia or Rajbari. Its better to carry some dry food for lunch.

Just a few km from Kushtia's Lalon Asram this historic place is located. In 1890 Tagore started managing their family estates in Shelaidaha. He stayed there for over a decade at irregular intervals between 1891 and 1901. It is a country house built by the father of Rabindranath, Maharshi Debendranath Tagore.
The main building is a three storied building constructed with brick, timber, corrugated tin sheets etc. The building is pyramid shaped with a terrace. The total area of the compound is 11 acres. The building is situated on right in the middle of the compound.
The reformation of Kuthi Bari has been completed under the Department of Archaeology, Ministry of Cultural Affairs. It now serves as a museum named 'Tagore Memorial Museum'. Many of the objects Tagore used are displayed here, such as his bed, wardrobe, iron chest, lawn mower, framed pictures and last but not the least his houseboat.
Several festivals are observed throughout the year in Kuthi Bari such as 25th Baishakh as Tagore's birth anniversary. It is a five-day-long festival. People from across the country as well as India and the rest of the world join this occasion to celebrate his birthday. The program includes discussion, cultural program, fair and staging of his plays.
The complex is close on Sunday with half day off on Monday. Also it is close on Govt. holidays.
The entrance is 10 Taka for Bangladeshi people and for foreigner it is 100 Taka.

Kuthibari, Shilaidaha is located in Kushtia district. With other professors of Islamic University visited in the afternoon. Kuthibari surrounded by a large expanse of trees, plants and blooming flowers is carrying memories of Nobel Laureate Poet Rabindranath Tagore. Kuthibari is a picturesque three-storied charming building. Tagore visited Kuthibari several times in connection with his ‘Zamindari’ (estate). The chair and table used by him stand exhibited. Plenty of photos are there including that with Mahatma Gandhi. Eminent personalities like scientist Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose, dramatist and music composer DL Roy and litterateur Promoth Chowdhury, and others visited. Tagore wrote a number of masterpieces such as ‘Sonar Tori’, ‘Katha O Kahini, ‘Chitra’, ‘Kshanika’, ‘Chaitali’; poems from ‘Naibedya’ and ‘Kheya’, and songs from ‘Gitanjali’ and ‘Gitimalya’.
It is difficult to detail the scenes. More you will know from the descriptions of the photos.

Kuthibari is a very historic place for Bangladesh. Rabindranath Tagore used to live here for some times and wrote many of his great creations here. This place is very nice, quite and calm. Now this place is open for the tourist. A mini museum as well. You will be able to see some of the used items of Rabindranath Tagore here to get a feel - how was the time, when this great man used to live here and made the outstanding creations...

We visited the Kuthibari last Sunday. But Sunday is the official holiday of that establishment. So we could see the place from outside only. The kuthibari is kept immaculate and well maintained, the garden is Mau
Intatained properly. A replica of the boat used by Gurudev is kept. The complex is having paid toilets, they are clean. You can buy mementos from shops nearby of it. You will get tea and light snacks there.

Tagore, the man behind every Bengali lit lover. I along with few friends visited Tagore's kuthi in Shilaidaho, Kustia last month. The house was awesome. I was amused by the museum there.

A calm place with much historic value. it's about 30 mins away from the city center. you have to go there via CNG ( 3-wheeler taxi). to go in you have to buy tickets worth maybe 20tk (higher for foreigners). the place is quite large and beautiful with lots of greenery and flowerbeds. the house you can see in the middle is the vacation house of the poet Rabindranath Tagore. inside there is a museum where you can see his pictures, different pieces of his works, paintings and some furniture he used. i found the boat very interesting which he used to travel in. there is also a small speedboat which is displayed in the veranda. outside there is a pond and it has seating arrangements around it. in the evening you can sit there and enjoy the gentle breeze. there are musicians who sit close to the pond and they'll sing for you for some money. the cold breeze mixed with the songs make a delightful experience. it is a very family friendly place and i suggest anyone who visits kushtia to go there atleast once. also don't forget to have KULFI outside the gate. it is a kind of icecream and is a traditional dish of Kushtia. and trust me you can't just have only one. it is absolutely delicious. but make sure you check the price before, because they tend to charge more if they get the chance.
