Excellent. 140 years old basement for food storage over the years refurbished in wine cellar. You can try the perfect homemade wine and buy it at the end of the tour. I highly recommend it.

A super interesting and unique experience. Repnice are some some sort of cellars dug out of sandstone used for storing of wine or other agricultural produce. In the past they used it more for food, but nowadays they use it for wine and tourism. The owner at Thai repnice was extremely nice. She took us around explaining all abou the cellars and the wine region, as well as tasking the wine they produce. The wine is pretty good and you end up in their shop where you can buy some wine for home. I loved the experience

This was a lovely, personal introduction to Slovenian wine. We just turned up but it seems you can arrange in advance- which I think is preferable.
We picked up the leaflet from this place in tourist info and thought we’d take a drive up through the hills to visit. Driving up the house, we saw a gentleman gardening and wondered if we were in the right place but it turns out we were... I think we were expecting something on a more industrial scale but were pleasantly surprised.
We established with Martin, the gentleman, that the only common language between us was German (ours very rusty) so he led us down to the cave underneath the property to begin the tour. If you arrange in advance they lay on bread and cheese for the wine tasting. Another reason to contact in advance is to arrange a tour in English! It was fascinating to learn about the process, the cave and try the wines.
It lasted about 45 minutes and I believe we paid €10 for the tour but we bought quite a few bottles of the lovely wine at the end so I lost track of what we paid for each part (maybe the wine tasting also impacted my memory!) Martin also kindly gave us to one of the vintage bottles from the cave which we thoroughly enjoyed that evening. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in the area.

Imagine yourself in a manmade cave made from pure sand and nothing apart from the sand. Ceiling looks like a piece of art due to ancient patterns made by pre-historic sea. You will hear a history of how this cave has been built, try to excavate a bit of sand yourself, have a chance to see some interesting samples unearthed during the excavation. But the main reason for visiting it is of course wine. It's a great wine tasting where you will also be snacking on homemade cold meats, cheese and bread. The hostess, Aleshka, has a wicked sense of humour and will make you blush with her jokes. Well, wine consumed will probably help to blush easier. It was an amazing experience and we couldn't leave without purchasing quite few bottles of amazing wine. Loved the experience, thank you, Aleshka.
