My wife, son and I went to the Sunday afternoon tour. First of all it costs $5 for Adults and $1 for kids, it's better to take cash with you as you have to go to another building to pay with card. I had forgotten my wallet that day but my wife had her Card. There was plenty of parking on site, and the staff was super friendly. There were about 6 adults on our tour and two of them were really excited to see Walt Disney's Garage workshop. I am not a huge Disney fan but it was still cool to see it. There is a little fire department building there that my son really liked, some old homes belonging to the Stanley Family, there is an old shoe repair shop, Post Office, School building, and you can walk through two homes. Lots of old antiques to see, and overall a very nice afternoon. I believe they only offer the tour twice a month, and since they are self funded they are in need of donations and volunteers. I was told they are having a barn sale in or about October, the proceeds help keep the museum open.

I was not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. It is not a multi-media event, it is a step back into time when life was real. I think you will enjoy it if you immerse yourself into the event. I did. The $5.00 per person suggested fee is well worth it. Listen, look, and put your phone down....you will learn to respect what we have now.

It looks nice but its always closed. Wish they had hours that were better for the public to go check them out.

Nice collection of buildings and small exhibits from when Garden Grove was a farm area. A nice quiet place to travel back into time at.

A little Gem in the middle of Garden Grove. We got our car club group together and went here for a picnic on the lawn and then a tour and it was fabulous. So much history and the docents so nice and accommodating. We had set this up in advance and with large groups they will come and do a tour on days not normally scheduled. For the general public the tours are on the 1st & 3rd Sundays of the month. Check the website. The tour last about 90 minutes and truly takes you back in time. Love It!

The stanley ranch is very small and is in the residential area. With that, parking is not difficult as it is onsite and it is a very small area. There's a good collection of artifacts and if you're not on a tour, you can not enter buildings.

Unfortunatly we were not in Garden Grove on a day that we could have entered the buildings but we were able to observe all of them from the outside. Particularly the Walt Disney Garage where he had perfected a machine to make early cartoons. A very friendly caretaker gave us much information and opened up the very needed restrooms

I would suggest calling ahead for the tour, as it is only given on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month. Even if you choose not to do the tour, it is amazing to see these historical homes and buildings that were saved from demolition, all in one location within the City. Even the light posts in the parking lot were the original light posts from Garden Grove Boulevard, saved from demolition and moved here to the Historical Village. Take your time walking through the village, but start at the flag pole and pay homage to the veterans of WWII. There is a dedication plaque for the men who once lived in Garden Grove and died during the war. See the original bell from the one room school house, water tower replica, the big red barn, a replica of the original Garden Grove Fire Department, the Post Office building which was built in 1880 but did not open until 1877, a 1928 mail box, the little red school house and more! The Stanley home built in 1891, a 1916 California bungalow, or an 1885 Queen Anne cottage. As you walk along, be sure to check out all of the antique farming tools throughout the location, or the fire hose, or perhaps even the horse head pole used to tie your horse up to. You will even see the garage owned by Robert Disney, the uncle of Roy and Walt Disney from 1923. In this garage, Walt Disney used this as his studio and in 1923 he perfected the animation machine in this garage. These buildings and items in the Village hold so much history, I would definitely suggest taking the tour and then taking time to walk through it on your own.
