We had/have tickets to the 7/13/2024 Hotel California Concert. The show was canceled and rescheduled for 2/15/2025 WITHOUT notifying ticket buyers. We showed up for the show along with many others only to be greeted by a piece of paper taped to the ticket booth telling us of the change. We spoke to others at the theater who had traveled from great distances and made significant sacrifices to be at this show.

This is a classic example of Streamline Moderne architecure circa 1942; it stripped the ornamentation from 1920's classic Art Deco and replaced it with curving forms associated with the aerodynamic design of steam ships (Ocean Liner Style).
This theater is a piece of history; it opened at the eve of the USA entering WW II. The nation was reeling from the bombing attack on Pearl Harbor and War Bond shows were hosted at the Fremont Theater. Fremont Theater played a part in that piece of our history.
Art Deco launched in 1920 with luxury, modernity, glamour, and excuberance. In the Depression-Era 1930's, it morphed more into a more socialistic style with the WPA make-work projects for unemployed artists who depicted the common man in stark and bleak working situations.
The 1940's (during the Fremont Theater era) evolved into forms that expressed the function of the building; theaters (by example) were adorned with sculptures evoking music, dance, and excitement. Art Deco's latest iteration was circa 1960 with a revival of sorts.
Fremont Theater is a valuable piece of our nation's history; San Luis Obispo fought hard to retain it from falling victim to the wrecking ball. It's a beauty! Any trip to SLO should absolutely include a walk around the historic district to admire these treasures. A list and map can be found online at the Historical and Archeological Preservation site for the city.

This was our first visit to the Fremont, a classic Art Deco-designed/neon-signed theater/concert venue. While it shows its age it wears the years fairly well. The permanent seats are plush and high backed. For the concert we attended the seats up front (about 7 rows) were portable, but still adequate seats. The sound system and stage lightening weren’t great but they served their purpose. There is a concession stand. For our concert they were offering beer, wine, pizza and popcorn, along with some standard movie concessions (soda, water and candy). Ample parking is easily available in a nearby parking structure.
We will readily return when a concert offering catches our interest.

We saw the Kiefer Sutherland Band here, just loved the old cloth seats, classic (crazy) interior, all seats are good (I think it only holds about 500?) Worth the admission just to be in the place! Food, Beer & Wine available in the lobby and can be brought into the theater (Now there's a Plus!)

This theatre opened in 1942 and currently has a variety of stuff going on - including concerts and film festivals. This was our first time there but won't be out last. This place is so cool!!
We went for a concert (good pricing) and lined up about 1 1/2 hours before the doors were to open. Crowd was good natured - everyone there for the music. Just a little after the doors were to open, we were ushered in - through a quick pat down, metal detection and ticket scan and we went in to grab a seat (general admission). The theatre probably holds about 800 seats. The seats were much more comfortable than I thought they were gonna be (although we stood most of the concert).
Art deco style in the inside and before the lights went down, we were just checking it all out. How very cool that the people here decided not to trash and rebuild with a more modern theatre a few years back.
They have a snack bar - typical theatre stuff - popcorn, candy, sodas, water beer, wine etc. Have a few restrooms and these were clean. All the people that were working there were super chill and friendly.
When the lights went down and the music started is when the magic happened. The sound was just incredible. Have been going to concerts for 45 years to lots of places and this was one of the best. Gotta luv Buckethead!! Check out their website, find something you like and go visit the Fremont Theater.

I went to a concert here, and it is a cute older theater with I'm sure a ton of history! The inside in beautiful, but the staff seemed overwhelmed and unorganized. I arrived early to get in first when doors opened, yet they were allowing people behind me in because they couldn't figure out how to check people in... Then security just stood around, did nothing about rowdy or obnoxious people harassing the artist. Made the show actually un-enjoyable for the crowd. This place could be a fun place for events, but if they can't get it together I won't be back.

This charming historical theater is a throw back to the 1940s.
I have been visiting Morro Bay and the surrounding areas for most of my life, yet admittedly, I had never been to this theater.
I took my niece and my girls to go see a newly released movie here. As you walk up to the theater you see the historical structure and texture of it. (Pictures attached). The staff is so friendly and informative about the history of the theater. So worth stepping in and asking for yourself.
Upon entering the actual theater I was awe struck at how many seats were actually inside. It's just truly enormous.
The seating was comfortable. The seats sit high, so if you have small children, be sure to ask for a booster seat for them. Which I did and it worked perfectly.
They have a small variety of items in the snack bar to choose from. Soft drinks. Water and of course popcorn. I recommend the large tub at $7 for the free refill. Especially if the are 3 or more in your group. Worth it!

See what theaters were like back in the 1950's and 1960's.
We've lived here a long time and always loved the Fremont.

Solo la fachada ya es razón suficiente para visitarlo. Te transporta directamente a los años 50s y 60s de Estados unidos, su arquitectura es característica y si vas de noche puedes disfrutar de la iluminación.

This is a big retro movie theatre that also hosts live concerts. We saw Ziggy Marley here, 8th row center. It was super cool! It reminded me of the old movie theaters we watched movies in years and years ago, like "The Alien" back in the early 80's! This theatre is in the heart of the downtown area so there's lot to see, shop and eat in the immediate area before and after. For a fraction of the price to see a good concert I highly recommend this venue!
