Charming host/vintner, excellent wines, especially the reds. This fun Hungarian owner loves to tell you all about his work, which he clearly enjoys. He dry farms in the Templeton gap with success and he ages his wines properly with minimal to no sulfides. The cabernet sauvignon is lovely, the zinfandel as well. They do have a wine club as well which ships twice per year.

We were taken there by our Wine Wrangler tour guide and it was a great stop. The wines were excellent (we bought a case) and John, the owner, has some wonderful stories to share. A definite must for your wine experience. Friendly and warm. We will send our friends.

The last time I was here was believe it or not 8 years ago. John the owner and wine maker was still there making wine and holding wonderful conversation as he poured each tasting. Fabulous. Absolutely fabulous. I’ll be back in a few months for sure. Great pricing, fair prices on the best wine in the valley.

He seems to do the serving every day. Quirky one prior reviewer said. Interesting I would say. Wines are very traditional. Entertaining wine tasting chatting to the owner. A wine tasting with a difference.

The owner John is really helpful. His wines are all old school and not sold before their times. Kinda at the end of the trail so it doesn't get the traffic but its worth going to.

The winery building was designed and built by the owner and his son. The owner was pouring the wine the day we were there-he is quirky and fun. We had an enjoyable experience!

A small comfortable tasting room. We have always encountered the owner when we have stopped, and he is personable and entertaining. This is a small winery run entirely from vine to bottle by the owner and his son offering only reds that are very acceptable, especially if you join the wine club and factor in the great prices. Our keenest interest in RC wines is that they are aged naturally - nothing manipulated nor added except time. It is always a stop for us when in the area.

This cellar features varietals and none are blended wines. 10 acres of vines under cultivation. Small operation focused on good quality pure wines and not interested in scaling. The owner was very nice, great conversation and history.

Our experience here was wonderful. We enjoyed the naturally aged wines (without sulfites added to cause headaches, thirst, etc). The owner/tasting room host, was a real character and very memorable. Only 2 other couples came in while we were there, so the atmosphere was very relaxed and pleasant. This winery is owned and operated by the father and son. From the fields to the tasting room, it is all done by the two of them. If you like quirky, interesting people and enjoy a well made wine, stop by. One warning- Be sure you like reds because that's all they serve!

On the way to Cambria we stopped here to try their pinots. It was late in the day and the tasting room had a frat party atmosphere to it. A raucous, well lubricated clientele was really enjoying itself. The gentleman pouring was very friendly and the wine was flowing freely.
We worked through a number of their wines and were pretty disappointed. Almost everything we tried seemed past its prime with the reds tasting very oxidized or baked. Although some folks like this cooked fruit taste, the reds were reminiscent of wines from bulk wineries in the Central Valley in the 1980s. Whereas it is pay to play here as with most wineries in the area, the cost is low. Good thing as it wasn't worth it. Today's wines from Paso are far superior to what they were 10-15 years ago, but unfortunately the wines offered by Rocky Creek, at least during our visit, have not yet caught up. I can't say they were defective, just over aged, featuring a cooked jam taste usually present in older wines that were subject to too much air or aging. Considering the other fine choices available in the area, I'd pass on Rocky Creek for now. Too bad as the staff really tried to make people feel welcome. Pass!
