Fantastic double dip enjoyment in the same month
sept. 2019

Now requiring "vaccine" passports? Why? Were you ordered to do this and just passively (and dangerously) complying with abusive orders? Or did you just voluntarily decide to promote dictatorships?

Great way to crap on you long time customers
sept. 2021
Vaccine cards and masks?! This is how you pay back those who have supported you over the years? I've been going to Comedy Works almost as long as they've been open. I've seen the changes over the years. The tight seating, overpriced and watered down drinks, overpriced crappy food, less than enthusiastic wait staff. I kept going because the comics were good (usually). The Landmark is the worst with how they pack everyone in. How they get by capacity fire codes I'll never understand. But now they are requiring proof of vaccine and masks? I've had enough. Way to drink the cool aid and become one of the sheep Comedy Works. You've lost a long time supporter. I'm never going back.

Way to to Comedy Works

I was a long time patron and supporter of Comedy Works, especially during the shutdowns and quarantine. Now that they are requiring proof of vaccination and masks, they can suck it.

Rude and unprofessional “manager”
sept. 2021 • En couple
Went tonight and the manager was completely RUDE and unprofessional! When he stated that we could not get in due to not having our vaccination card, I told him that I was not aware and he cut me off by saying "YOU DID get an email and phone call to confirm that you had to bring vaccination proof..." I pulled out my phone and showed proof of NO emails and I checked my voicemail history with NOTHING!!! He grabbed his papers and talked to me like an idiot saying "this is your email and phone number, yes?!" Bottom line, NO email was sent and no call received!!!! COMPLETELY RUDE and VERY VERY UNPROFESSIONAL Manager (if you would call him that) Will not be back and will NEVER recommend due to this situation and how he treats people!

Ha!
oct. 2019
I've been living in Denver for over 20 years and never visited the comedy club until I got tickets at a silent auction fundraiser for an animal rescue. I got 4 tickets so broke them up to be used twice, the second time bringing friends, and then another friend randomly called and said she had tickets to see Fortune Feimster and could I come with her. I went from never having gone to having gone 3 times in 2 weeks. Then I won more tickets and took some friends, and then I won a party so got a big group together to go! I went to this club 5 times in 4 months and it was always stellar. However, it is also always a major ordeal. You must be there a little early, and you might want to have dinner before. As is common in comedy clubs, you are on the hook to buy at least two items (be warned, drinks from the upstairs bar don't count for this). Then I'm the type who always wants to go out later. By the time you're home you've spent a lot, lot, lot of time and money, which I would say is worth it, but again, a major event. As may be expected, the food may not be great, or maybe it's fine as long as you're expecting bar snacks. We've had the hummus which was tasty, and friends have had other fried things. The house wine was Blackbox when I was there, which is always good. As for the comedy, it's always great, and I think an under-appreciated form of entertainment at times. The bar across the street is where everyone goes not surprisingly, and it is very, very fun! Be aware, as you enter, your phone will be put in a little unopenable bag you keep and then is freed after the show. Not a problem, but don't plan on texting your babysitter during the show.

Fantastic double dip enjoyment in the same month
sept. 2019
Returned to the Downtown location after two weeks away (before it was extremely funny Joe List) to see the best comic by far since Tommy Johnagin (back in 2016 at the South Landmark location who came in second place on Last Comic Standing competition but he got robbed and should have won it all). Christie was our waitress and it was obvious she was assigned too many people to effectively provide responsive quality service, as getting around to all of her customers to place orders and later on check for drink refills took too long, definitely much slower service than two weeks ago. The middle seats feel more cramped for space than if you are lucky enough to be assigned seats at either end of the long rows. The MC/host had some inappropriate and unfunny jokes that did not go over well at all with the audience, but thankfully his act was short enough to be almost tolerable. The first warm up comedian was announced as a Denver regular but this is the first time hearing from him, and he was decently funny. The second warm up comedian was announced as “a policeman who travels the country”, so by the time he came on stage we had lowered our expectations. We were pleasantly surprised how funny he was, and he could definitely be a headliner someday as the audience enjoyed him. Ian Bagg was the feature act filling in for Bobby Lee who cancelled a few weeks prior. Ian was fantastically amazing with how quick witted he is and his act is about 80% impromptu each night based on his numerous questions to different audience members. He ended up talking to maybe around 15-20 attendees by the end, and he was able to turn conversations quickly into jokes with relevant punchlines. We almost ended up coming back for a Saturday night show just to see Ian with a new and fresh audience after we laughed so hard so often with so many of his jokes. Ian is definitely a “must see” comic and I hope Comedy Works invites him back soon to appear at the South Landmark location for his next visit hopefully later this year. Fantastic comedian for sure. Parking downtown is only $5 with validation and you only have to walk across the adjacent street to reach Writers Square.

Rude!!!!
déc. 2019 • En famille
I've never ever experienced such rude people, they separated myself and my husband, as I forgot my ID, they made me leave to collect it, wouldn't allow my husband, this was 8pm, so dark outside, they seated my husband in the very back so the seats were poor anyways, in the end my husband walked out!
What a complete let down!

You've been warned...
déc. 2019
Like most cliche sayings, I'm truly not one to post reviews. And it goes without saying that people tend to write reviews when it's a negative experience so take it with a grain of salt, however, after how I was treated last evening at the Dave Chappelle show, I need other possible patrons to be aware. All the other negative reviews about maltreatment is a VERY real thing. Last evening, I wasn't feeling so well and knew I was going to be sick so to be a decent human and not make an exorcist scene, I went to the bathroom to take care of myself. No mess, it was in the toilet, I flushed it, no harm, no foul. Guess you're not allowed to do that. Upon washing my hands and leaving the restroom, one of the staff members approached me and said, "M'am, we cannot let you back into the club." And you can imagine I was startled and inquired why. His response: We were told you were throwing up in the bathroom so we cannot let you back into the club. After some tradings of words of how dehumanizing and unfair this treatment was, I continued to ask if I could at least have my coat and then at the very least stay in the building until the show was over so my friend could still enjoy it and it's December so it's cold outside. His response, "No. You must leave the premises entirely." Like what if it was negative something outside?! I'm a 4' 9" 94 lbs small human for gods sake. You're really going to throw me out?! It's one thing that I can no longer see the show that I paid to see but now I'm being thrown out to the cold? What the actual hell?! I'm not necessarily telling anyone not to go to this comedy club because the talent that passes through here is great. But be warned and err on the side of caution of your actions. Because what you think is innocent or doing the "right thing" is completely up to the judgment of the staff and they're less than forgiving and like to play God. I hope no one else continues to be mistreated as I have and so many others have. Disappointed, so very disappointed.

Dan Cummins!
nov. 2019 • En couple
My husband and I went to see our favorite comic Dan Cummins to celebrate our anniversary. I love that they make you put your phone in a lock bag during the show, great idea! The opener was fine, Dan Cummins was hilarious as usual! The atmosphere and service were great, the food and drinks left a little to be desired. The “platinum” margarita was not only small, but very bland and had almost no salt on the rim. My husband enjoyed his mango tango margarita and I enjoyed my second drink the jolly rancher shot. Kind of big to be a shot but pleasant to sip on. The fried pickles were tasty but too hot to eat at first. when they cooled, the batter felt heavy and greasy so we didn’t end up eating very many. In the past we’ve ordered the chocolate martini and hummus plate, very good. Should’ve gone with my gut, but I let my husband order(not that he’s to blame, he just really likes fried pickles)Other than that, we had a great time and I’m sure we will be back, especially if Dan is performing!
