I visited for the first time recently from the UK. My sister and I managed to get parked for free nearby, however it was difficult due to so many people tubing on the river! The little park is free and you can see the remains of a few old pioneer buildings, including old cabins, a schoolhouse and cart etc. It's interesting however certainly not a museum.

Interesting self-guided tour of historic buildings downtown. We saw a blacksmith demo the day we went that added greatly to the experience. It was nicely preserved but would be much enhanced with interpreters.

We saw this area as we were returning from our creek walk. It is open to the public, but it appears that we were not there during demonstration hours. It was cool to look at the historic buildings.

Nice little self-guided tour of history building from the Golden area. Many buildings and other artifacts, a wonderful garden, and even some chickens

While out walking in Old Orland with a friend we stopped at the History Museum,in the old village hall,on Beacon. What a great find. The exhibit was about the police,fire and public works in the village and it was so interesting. The museum also offers history walks around town, and special event programs. I highly recommend a visit!

This is on the south bank of Clear Creek, a stream with very nice trails and is well-loved to the point of being almost overwhelming on a busy summer day. The History Park has chickens the kids can feed with a machine that dispenses food for the kids to toss for $0.25. Keep an eye out for events where the Museum and Park have actors such as prairie farmers and a working blacksmith!

Just an excellent experience for the children as well as the adults. Like walking back in time. Beautiful area along the river also.

The Golden History Park, formerly the Clear Creek History Park, is home to many of the original buildings from the Pearce Ranch in Golden Gate Canyon, Colorado. Today, the park is located 15 miles away from the old Pearce Ranch, at 11th and Arapahoe in Golden, Colorado, a short walk from downtown Golden. Thomas and Henrietta Pearce raised eight children on the ranch, one of the largest in the area in 1912. Golden History Park is located along Clear Creek. The outdoor setting re-creates the look and feel of a late 1800s mountain ranch complete with gardens, a working blacksmith shop, school house, chicken coop, bee yard and root cellar. Stroll through the park and imagine yourself growing potatoes or raising chickens as part of a homesteading family. Peek through the windows of real 1800s cabins and see other buildings from the ranch like the barn, chicken coop and a two-seat outhouse. Also see the 1876 Guy Hall school house, which served the needs of canyon residents until 1951. When a housing development threatened the ranch buildings in the early 1990s, the community rallied to save a piece of Golden's history. Beginning in 1994, the buildings were moved to Golden, log by log, where they were reconstructed over the course of four years. The park opened to visitors in the spring of 1999. Thomas Pearce was a hard rock miner from Cornwall, England, who moved to Colorado at the age of 19 to start a new life. Arriving in 1878, he quickly found work in the gold and silver mines of Central City and Black Hawk, including the famous Bob Tail Gold Mine. In 1900, he began homesteading in a beautiful valley between Central City and Golden. The Pearce/Helps Cabin is all original, dating to 1878. Five different families called it home before it was purchased by Pearce in 1919. It is outfitted with period furnishings like a coffee grinder, bathtub, pump organ and cooking stove. The Reynolds Cabin was owned by the Reynolds family, which operated their own 240-acre ranch next to Pearce's ranch. The Reynolds family lived in this cabin that dates to 1873. The Pearce family purchased the Reynolds Ranch in 1912. Admission to the park is free. The grounds are open seven days a week from sunrise to sunset.
