Still Good!
juin 2021
Still a great place to stay. We stayed here last August on our way to Buffalo Bill State Park and liked it so much we returned this year. The park is very clean and had the vibe of a campground with the big city and all the conveniences only five minutes away.

Noise from I-25 is still a problem and most of it could be eliminated by building a noise barrier wall between the highway and park. Yes, easier said than done! Get a site farther back in the park and it is somewhat of an improvement.

Beautiful Oasis
juin 2021
Wow - what an incredibly beautiful oasis. You'd never guess that it's so close to downtown Denver. The sites are gorgeous and so clean, and the park is just beautiful. We will definitely return, and will be recommending it to everybody.

Very Unique State Park!
août 2020
There are two sections to this park. The lower numbers (1-41) have water and electric and 42-87 have full hookups. We stayed in #11. We usually opt for full hookups, but would not do so here. Our section (Pelican Loop), had a walking trail surrounded by a pond with cat tails and numerous beautiful pelicans in all of their glory and in the middle was a small island. It reminded me of Disney World's landscaping. Many mature shade trees lined the paved shaded roads. We had a level cement pad and a covered table. The newer sites with full hookups had ponds but no mature trees and gravel roads complete with dust.

When occupants left site, the park staff were right there to spray and disinfect the area. They even swept the gravel to adhere to Covid precautions. Very impressive!

The only con (and not that bad), was the park being very close to I-25. It was great for convenience and directions. A bit noisy, but once inside the camper, you didn't even notice!

I would highly recommend and would love to return.

One of Best Places We’ve Stayed in RV
juil. 2020 • En couple
State Park with full hook-ups, several small fishing lakes, trails, pelican, heron, and cormorants. Plenty of space between sites. Must pay $8 a day State Park pass fee in addition to camping overnight fee. We will definitely stay here a lot over the next few years visiting grandkids. There is some road noise from I-25 but we have a white noise machine that drowns it out at night.

Gods for kids

Nice place to take kids for fishing. Easy to get around, some smaller ponds. Was a bit crowded with nicer weather and social distancing.

Top notch camp sites, spotless facilities.
mars 2020
St Vrain has outstanding family camping sites. The Sandpiper sites are clean, organized, and well maintained. I'm assuming the other campsites are too. Although there is only one flush facility with showers, there are several water-less restroom facilities that are clean, maintained, and fully functional. The main restroom has several showers and stalls for men, women, and family.

The rangers and staff quite cordial and helpful. We easily made our reservations on-line.

The grounds are well maintained and free of trash. There are several trails for hiking (more like strolling) that are flat with gravel walking surface. They are easy for most folks but would be difficult for a regular wheel chair.

People were catching lots of trout when we were there in March 2020. We saw several bald eagles, numerous red-winged blackbirds, and fowl. We spent five days without any hitches in our electric only site. There was a water spigot for incidental water within 100 ft.

The only somewhat negative perspective we have is the noise from I-25 which is about half mile (as the crow flies) to the east. The noise is considerably lessened when the wind is blowing from the west to the east.

CLEAN NICE SITES ... BUT
oct. 2019
I would have given this location a 5-star rating had there not been so much road noise from I-25. The sites are very clean and well-kept, camp hosts exceptional and the views and amenities great. The noise though from the highway is a detractor.

Loud
sept. 2019
The state park is fairly popular, based on number of people visiting/camping -- though nearly all seem to be fishing. The bathroom facilities are nice, the fishing reasonably good. But it is a very loud place, near the freeway, and in parts of the park, it can be hard to have a conversation. There is also little in the way of natural areas to stroll, being truly developed for fisher folks

Very nice

We are staying here while visiting family.
We are staying in the Coots pond loop.
Our site is very clean with a cement pad, super clean fire ring, covered picnic table, and full hookups. Sites are well spaced. It is close to I-25 some road noise but not bad. Well patrolled by park rangers.
Visitor gate shack is well planned out. Staff very friendly. We were given a doggie treat bag for our dog and granola bars for us😀
There is a pass charge for people who do not have a Colorado state pass. Ours was $23 for 3 days. If you can show proof that you are active duty military or veteran the fee is waived. We will remember our DD-214 on next visit.
They do not accept National park pass.
But the money goes to a good cause and helps with upkeep of the park😀
Will stay here again on next visit!
