Back for the first time since 1969 when I was dragged kicking and screaming after being told not to eat the yellow flowers.... sounds about right as I was a little devil then and yes, still the same 54 years later, I know...

This time the sky was blue, the sun shining and all was right with the World.

We started at "top end" at Church Houses for two reasons. Firstly, everybody else starts the walk at the other end and I like to be different and secondly because we could enjoy the bestest of best breakfasts that any daffodil aficionado could want for at the appropriately named Daffy Cafe...

Midweek and the daffs were on the turn but that just added to the enjoyment as we picked up the Walking World 4 mile round trip which heads back up the easternside of the valley along the road back to the Village Hall Car Park. And don't forget dear readers to mek a voluntary contribution to VH funds...

Next we headed up to the top of Blakey Ridge and picked up the Rosedale Railway on another Walking World Walk 7 miler. Fantastic. Weather great, the best of the best.

Anyway that's it from me. I'm a bit hungry so going to eat another daffodil for mi tea. Tara.

Brilliant walk as you go from Low Mill up to High Mill (do it in that direction!) as the daffodils get more and more dense as you walk up the dale. Half decent coffee stop at the Daffy Cafe, but do the walk for the daffodils (March & April) and not for the cake or beverages.

To echo much of the above - well signposted, car park with honesty box £2.50 (NB cash only - no change) and decent lavatories (donations invited as opposed to costing!)

Lovely walk, we walked 24 March and whilst clearly the flowering is still on an upward trajectory there were plenty about. Indeed we started early on a sunny day we walked up to High Mill and back, in the time between legs we were sure more had come out. Path a bit muddy in parts so proper footwear recommended.

We parked at Low Mill Car Park for the Farndale Daffodil Walk on 26th March 2022. It is £2.50 to park for all day, there is an honesty box at the entrance. There is also a toilet block which is clean and free to use.

This would have been a 5* review as it was a really lovely walk, but I was just really disappointed by the lack of daffodils! We probably didn't see any more daffodils than on other walks we have been on lately and this is hyped up to be THE Daffodil Walk. I think maybe next week (1st weekend in April) might be a bit better, as there were still lots of shoots with buds that hadn't flowered. But you're never going to see the fields and fields of yellow daffodils that I had imagined. Such a shame as the bluebells flower near to us and it's beautiful blue as far as the eye can see in certain parts, and I had been hoping/expecting at least 1 part of this walk to be the same but with daffodils. No such luck however :-(

The circular walk itself is really lovely and very well signposted. A good job as we didn't have a signal from before we parked the car until after we left, so maybe be more prepared than us and download a map before you go! Luckily it wasn't necessary as we took a photo of the map and instructions at the carpark entrance and just referred to this, only necessary on the return walk as came back via a different route.

Walking out to Church Houses from Low Mill Car Park was a lovely walk following the stream through little woods, very picturesque. Just such a shame that there weren't many daffodils! The path was very good, probably good enough for a pram we would think. To complete the circular loop we walked back a different way, which took us up a few small hills and across fields / near farms, so offering beautiful views across the valley. This route was mostly grass and we did refer to the map a few times. It is a little bit more of a challenge fitness wise, but I am 6 months pregnant and managed with just a few little rests on the uphill parts to catch my breath so imagine anyone with good mobility could manage it. There are no styes to climb over, but lots and lots of gates to open/close.

We were glad we followed the directions on the map and continued on from Church Houses the very short extra distance to St Mary’s Church, as this was actually where we saw upclose the most daffodils. I took a lovely couple of photos here too.

We arrived at the carpark shortly after 8am on a weekend and we were only the 2nd car there. We prefer to get up early and enjoy the scenery without too many other people! By the time we left, around 10.45am the carpark was nearly full and the route was very busy with other walkers. We made the right decision for us. In total we took nearly 2.5 hours to walk the circular route of only around 6kms, but we were taking it slow and had a little picnic on a bench in the churchyard.

We passed other parking options on the way in, a farmers field for £2. Initially this seemed a bit of a long drive but then the main pathway to Church Houses took us near here, so an option if main carpark at Mill Hill is full.

3 couples arranged to go to Farndale to see the Daffodils and do a small walk. There was plenty out, some had died off, so just getting the timing right is hard when your travelling a distance, but it was for the walk & day out as much as anything. Car park was £2, the walk starts from just outside the car park, follow the path to Church Houses, then on to the church where we took a small lunch as we had arranged to go to The Blacksmith Arms in Lastingham for a late lunch/early tea. It was a lovely day for a walk & got out really hot after lunch. Once we left the church we carried on up the road Mackeridge Lane until we came to a public walkway sign on the right hand side just after a farm. We just followed the way markers then & it took us back into Low Mill arriving at the car park. The walk was 3.75 miles all told & very easy, 2/3 stiles to climb but not hard. From there we made our way to Lastingham for our meal, see my feedback on that too.

Visited here on a sunny Saturday in late March. Rather than sticking to the daffodil wall and doing a linear out and back we made it a circular walk via Rutland Rigg. This was noteworthy in itself with great views to Blakey Ridge, Bilsdale and the Wolds. Eventually we dropped down to the valley and did the actual daffodil walk which was nice. The path is very straightforward and accessible for all. We rounded off with an ice cream in Low Mill.
Car parking at low mill was £2 - very reasonable.

We come and do this walk every year. Steady stroll in lovely countryside. Car parking was £2.00 in a safe field. Friendly staff on the information stand. Toilets near the car park. The walk is for all ages.

I stayed in Guisborough at the north end of the park with easy access.
The park is huge with stunning moorlands and views all the way to the coast.
There are some forests as well.
You can hike and cycle and apart from nature there is lots to see here like standing stones, monasteries etc etc.
I walked all the way up to a stone alignment. The area is littered with standing stones.
Probably not a nice walk when it is raining as it is hard to find shelter.
The park is accesible from many other towns sdo there is lots to see

Have done this beautiful walk twice this year the first time it was cloudy so came back a week later on a lovely sunny day. A joy to see so many daffodils. The walk is flat with a few steep bumps but overall an easy walk for most people. Can be a bit muddy so waterproof shoes or boots recommended. Car parking was £2.00 all day. Toilets near the field you park in. Helpful volunteers at the Yorkshire Moors National Park stand.

The daffodil walk is deservably famous. The well constructed path is easy to follow and only takes an hour or so in each direction. It follows the river Dove and gives great views of the countryside. The Daffy Caffy is situated in a rustic old farmhouse and offers a simple but adequate menu at cheap prices. The service is good.
The church and churchyard are width a visit too.
The walk can be followed at any time if the year but mid-March to mid -April is best to see the daffodils that have been growing there fir 800years.
