I want to start by saying that the Baby Grand is one of my favorite places to see music. I like that it is a small venue, and the seats are comfortable. The past two times we've been to The Grand, it has been so HOT inside although both of our last two shows were in the winter. They need to turn the heat way down. I would imagine that their sponsors and donors would rather their donations go towards other improvements and not the electric/gas bill.

Delaware's largest city feels more like a sleepy town. This impressive building comes as Wilmington's most remarkable structure. More interested visitors may consider enjoying one of their shows.

I loved being back in this theatre again. The performance was Fiddler on the Roof and it was exceptional! The new carpeting, seats, and paint are just lovely. the seats seem a little wider, but don't quote me on that! I loved the experience.

We come to the Grand often for shows and in pre-Covid times we were subscribers. We e seen traveling music acts, comedy shows, Delaware Orchestra, Wilmington Ballet, and Opera Delaware. The space is beautiful and historic. There is parking only a block away and the theater and restrooms are always clean. We love the variety and quality of different shows that come to our little city.

We attended the Grand's Winter in Wilmington Drive-Thru Light Show held on the Wilmington Riverfront this holiday season. You could purchase tickets online or buy on location. They were $25 for a standard car. We decided last minute so we just pulled up to one of the toll booths. Here we purchased tickets with ease and were admitted into the light display. We tuned our car radio into the corresponding radio station to go along with the light display.
After we entered through the holiday lights archway, we drove along the entry lane passing a big snowman and some ice skating snowmen. Then we entered into the lighted tunnel. Along the way we saw LOTS of light up figures: carolers, old fashioned men & women, a golfer, gingerbread men, candy canes, a salvation army bell ringer, a teddy bear with presents, a gingerbread house, a Christmas cottage, jumping reindeer, ice skating polar bears, guitar playing bear, a bear throwing snowballs, a snowflake archway, Santa on a firetruck, a menorah, an elf flying a "seasons greetings" plane, a horse drawn carriage, Santa in a hot air balloon, various elves at work, a train and train station, holly/bow archway, a Happy Kwanzaa led tower, toy soldiers, jack-in-the-boxes, rocking horse, Santa sleigh & reindeer and huge light up Grand Opera House outline. As we neared the end, we were greeted by a live Santa and elf waving to us. They thanked us for visiting.
Overall, we had a nice time at The Grand's Winter in Wilmington Drive-Thru Light Show held on the Wilmington Riverfront this holiday season. I was a bit skeptical when I saw it from up above on I-95. It looked like a few lighted displays in a fairly SMALL parking lot. At $25 per car, I wondered if it would be worth it since they advertised it only took 8-10 minutes to drive through. However, we decided to go since it provided support to the Grand Opera during the pandemic.
Once at the display, I must admit that they crammed a lot of displays and decorations into the small space. They zig-zagged the traffic really utilizing the space. It was much nicer than I had anticipated. I had worried that traffic would be bumper to bumper with long waits to get it, but it was the opposite. We easily purchased tickets at the booth & drove through fairly easily. Traffic was minimal the drizzly night we went so it made driving through an enjoyable experience! It only took us 10 minutes or so to drive through the display. I would recommend IF offered again in the future. It was a nice, safe, socially-distanced way to enjoy the holidays from the comfort of your own car!

This review is about the physical look of the building only. I was in Wilmington just for lunch and to walk around the historic section of the city and found this handsome building on main street (Market Street). According to the history, the house is Second Empire Style and was built in 1871 as a Masonic Temple and auditorium . It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. The current look of the building is the restoration in 1973-76. Very nice building on the street worth a few photos for memories.

The Grand is a great venue. They have a pretty good seat layout. Almost every seat has a view of the stage, there are a few that have a partial obstruction from the columns. If there is a show here you want to see, definitely don’t hesitate. Only negative is parking in Wilmington is not great.

I bought Lewis Black tickets for tonight. I have the flu and could not attend. Due to the Venues policy, I was forced to get the tickets myself, i spent 220 on 2 tickets and didn't want them to go to waist. i finally get there, go to the will call desk, the manager wouldn't speak to me. I was told they would not hold the tickets for my party at all. Who does that? I walked across the street and asked the hostess to please hold them for my guest, he graciously said yes. Needless to say they will never have my business again.

A very nice place to see a show. Was surprised where they seated us based on attendance. My wife and I both were disappointed in the show and left at intermission.
I was also disappointed that I purchased parking and found it was a distance away and found a lot just a little way from front entrance. Gave higher rating based on theater.

The Grand Opera House in Wilmington is an architecturally stunning building on the street. I would have loved to attend a performance and get to see what I imagine is a gorgeous period interior.

Does anyone know the dimensions for the size of the seats in Copeland Hall?

What is the dress code for performances at Copeland Hall?
Rédigé le 25 août 2018
Casual. People dress in anything between jeans and dressy. Most seem to dress on the nice casual side. Nice slacks or skirt for women. Khakis and a button down for men and you will be dead center.
Rédigé le 26 août 2018
Yes, it is. I am sure it is named in honor of Garret and Tatiana Copeland or one of their family members. They have been generous benefactors of the Grand
