Small but full of educational material. My kids enjoyed reading about conservation efforts for the sea turtles and what we can do to help. Great location right by the beach.

Great way to take a break from the sun and learn about sea life around the area. The conservatory does an amazing job. I could not imagine not visiting the Navarre area and not going by to visit. Say “Hi” to Sweet Pea for me when you go.

We went on a morning it was raining while vacationing in Pensacola. We all learned about turtles and conservation. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful.

My kids LOVED going! My 13 year old requested we go but my 6 year old ended up having the most fun! We learned so much! And enjoyed the gift shop at the end!

It is amazing how much they pack into one building. We arrived on a friday afternoon and even though there was a line to get in, they moved us along quickly. The staff is VERY knowledgeable and willing to answer all kinds of questions. I only wish they had more turtles to see. The "museum" part was packed full of great information. I found myself reading all the signs and displays and walked out with a much greater appreciation for sea turtles. Our group consisted of young and old and everyone had a great time. Highly recommend! (and their gift shop is superb too!)

Neat and interesting place to visit. I’d recommend it. Sweet pea is the center of attention- she is the sea turtle. There are a few other creatures there and a gift shop. By the way the soap is great from the gift shop. If you are in the area stop by.

Only one sea turtle to see here. Admission is by tour only that happens every 20 minutes and fill up quickly (wait was an hour out when I was there on a Tuesday). There was no shade to wait in as their shade was destroyed on a storm. Very educational and a good mission.

We really enjoyed the conservation. The tour was short & talked all about the one sea turtle they rescued. We enjoyed it though & learned a lot. There are a few exhibits to see as well & a gift shop. They even had tortoises outside while we waited for the tour to start. We would definitely go back again to see Sweet Pea!

I’ll preface my review by saying that the sea turtle conservation center undoubtedly does amazing, invaluable work. While the admission fee of $5 per adult initially doesn’t sound very costly, it’s pricey for the lack of a fulfilling experience, and even pricier for those paying admission for larger families. There is an initial impression that the rehabilitation center has more to offer visitors in terms of an educational program than it actually does. Aside from the few aquatic turtles and tortoises on the exterior of the building, there are 3 live specimens on exhibit indide the building that are truly intriguing and worth observing— a lion fish, a small tank of jelly fish and darling Sweet Pea the rescued sea turtle who is beyond rehabilitation and cannot be returned to the wild. Upon arriving at the rehabilitation center, our group of 20 or so visitors was told that we’d be taken on a tour. The tour consisted of entering the building and gathering around Sweet Pea’s swimming pool, where an employee educated us in a 10 or so minute info session on sea turtles in general and shared with us the life story of Sweet Pea and how she came to be a permanent resident of the conservation center. She is the only sea turtle on site, and if this is known up front prior to visiting the center, then expectations can be more reasonable. That was the extent of the “tour”. The group was then left to explore a room with a handful of other specimens and some exhibits and info posted on the walls. There’s also a gift shop. We expected to learn more about the work done by the conservation center and thought that we’d see more than one sea turtle b/c the web site makes reference to multiple. It would also be wonderful to hear other stories of sea turtle rescue and of efforts made to preserve the overall population.

On the website it lists winter hours. We will be in Florida in June and would love to visit with our kids. What are the hours in June?

Can anyone tell me where the turtle reef is at that you can kayak or swim to? I drove around Navarre beach for about 45 minutes and couldn’t find it.
Thanks

Hi, the Gulf side artificial reef is in located in the Navarre Beach County Park and accessed from the Sea Oat pavilion parking lot. Follow the boardwalk to the beach and head east approximately 100 feet. The site is marked on shore by two large PVC posts positioned on sand dune.
