This place was about a 30 min drive outside of Helen but so glad we made the trip. Our boys had a blast. The road is closed about halfway down so you have to walk about a mile to reach it. The road is rocky so bring good walking shoes.

We loved this place but make sure to go in the AM or early evening to avoid the people if you are socially distancing. We had such a great time. Be prepared to hike about .5 mile to the slide rock...up hill. Worth it!

A recent visit brought back fond memories. The road is narrower than I remember but definitely worth the short drive out.

We took three children ages 8-12 to find this hidden gem. It was pretty far out from where we stayed, but well worth the drive. The drive took us past beautiful lake Burton. Prior posters were right - when you turn on to Wildcat you feel like you might be lost and it seems like you are going up some random holler. The road is very narrow, and parking is limited to pull off spots along the road. It was further up the dirt road than we realized. If you pass the sliding rocks there is more parking up the road. The kids loved this place. We were there for more than 3 hours. We got there around 11:30AM and had the place to ourselves for awhile, by 3pm when we left there were about 20 people there. Parents, please be aware that the side of the slide toward the road is deeper and will pull the slider underwater briefly before spitting them out a little downstream. The side further from the road is better for the younger ones in the group. The water is very cold, but this was the perfect activity for a 90 degree plus day. There are no restroom facilities anywhere close, so plan accordingly.

Thanks to another Trip Advisor review we found this place with no problem. We expected to find a big crowd, but were surprised to find only two other people. They had just slid and were heading out. They said they have been coming since childhood. Only a few parking spots. Looks like lots of fun.

This is a popular site with locals and tourists! Grab your bathing suit and prepare to get wet! But be careful and keep up with who is in your group because this is self-serve--no lifeguard. You will definitely slide!!

It is off Hwy 197 and when you turn into West Wildcat Rd it looks sketchy but you are right! This is our second year going and I am always scared to walk over through the water and go down the rock but then all of us (12yo 10 yo and 7yo and husband and 2 yo son- with Dad on the raft) cannot get enough! We brought a river tube and that was super fun. It is on Moccasin Creek.

The creek runs all along beside the road. There are many beautiful cascading falls as you drive. It's like one long never ending set of mini falls. You have to pay attention because there is no sign just a widening in the road where people pull over. Rock is gentle and smooth as you slide. The pool at the bottom is safe for plowing into. Check it out for as long or little as you like. I will add pictures.

How long does it take to get down to ther swimming hole from the car. I have a disability but I'm capable of some hiking.

It is a small walk and it depends on where you are able to park your car

Is there a safe place for an elderly couple to stand and watch people sliding?

There is a steep area to climb down- an elderly person would need assistance but then there is a small “beach area” for chairs to watch.
Can you bring pets there ?

Yes - this is a natural setting
