We visited the museum today and were welcomed by the host of the museum /shop and she gave us lots of information. She could answer all our questions and way more and showed us the museum. Also the books in the shop were interesting and the cafe which is part of the complex is quite cozy. We were impressed by the museum and can recommend it to everyone!

The Centre kindly opened up for our tour group not only for breakfast which was great but for a tour through the museum as well. Very well done all in picture form much like the Apartheid museum in Johannesburg with key points on large graphic boards. We all leant a lot about the life and death of Steve Biko. The new modern building and theater is an inspiration to the Ginsberg Community where he came from and well worth the visit.
If you really want to feel entrenched in the Community you can even stay in the house his Mom owns and where he grew up.

Found the display interesting but not balanced in historical facts; presenter seemed racially and religiously biased and as such, projected her personal impressions beyond the material presented.

Reading about the story of Steve Biko, eye opener in terms of the past in South Africa, historical place especially for the young people who doesn't know the days of struggle in SA

Always a terrible experience
Draughts always out of stock even though being advertised
Most ciders out of stock
Half the food menu not available
No manager ever available
Waiters are very friendly and try very hard clearly however no clue on any menu items
Barman is extremely rude, witnessed this to quite a few customers too, does not surprise me why they never have more than 5 customers at there Bar.
Overall, one of the worst and poorly managed restaurant & bar I have seen in all my years of travelling, a complete joke.

This centre pays tribute to the life of the South African hero in a frank, beautiful way - and as a result of the brutality he and his fellow black South Africans faced, it's a rather harrowing experience. It creates good historical context for his life and deeds. A must-see when travelling in the area. Their second exhibition space hosted a very good exhibit on Project Coast and the chemical/biological warfare programmes of the Apartheid government.

We visited the Cde Steve Bikos house and got goose bumps just reflecting on his life and ideals having learnt of him for years. The property is well looked after snd an attraction for tourists with a historical interest. We then proceeded to the Steve Biko museum and was equally taken aback by the shere information yhat our personal guide Sis-Asanda shared with us. The displays and exhibits were very interesting. The garden of reflection was equally interesting with its own history of how Cde Steve and his associates used to congregate and discuss their activities, plans, information sharing, etc.. Department of Arts and Culture must continue to support such significant icons of our struggles. There is a good restaurant on the premises too.

This facility was used by our team on 5 occasions from Feb 2016 to March 2017. Each time we experienced excellent service, the facility manager, Vuyo is very professional. The meals are like home cooked food. Nothing is an effort.

The presentation of the facts of what happened during this period in South Africa is remarkable. We were amazed and the center contained even more facts than we had imagined. The tour is a must do for history lovers.

We had read about Steve Biko and we were excited to visit this museum. It didn't disappoint! The exhibition was very informative and very well set-up. We had a chat with the girl at the desk about her wish to study International Politics (we are International Relations PhD students on exchange from Ireland) and I was so impressed with her knowledge and determination. A fantastic centre which also includes an amphitheatre and barbecue area: a great potential for the whole town.

Hoping we can get some great advice for two sites we would like to visit in King Williams Town. Can you book a tour to the S. Biko Centre and the Garden of Remembrance from Port Elizabeth? How long would it take to view the S. Biko Centre? Are the two sites mentioned above close to each other? If we did both attractions how long would the tour be for the day? What would the cost be for both sites? Thanks in advance for your help. Diane 🏄

It really depends on how much time you spend in front of each explanatory panel, as there is a lot of information to absorb. We spent around 1-2 hours in the centre.
