A sobering and important stop for me. Spent 4 hours learning about the Holocaust and the political and world environment that allowed this atrocity to happen. The museum offers a VR and a holographic experience that share survivors’ poignant stories. Judy, one of the many volunteers there, provided an excellent tour of the main displays. The Kinder Transport exhibit shows an example of what love in action looks like. Over 10,000 children were accepted into England and saved. A similar proposal to bring children to the US was scuttled by Congress.

I want my country to be refuge for those who turn to us in time of great need. My hope is that through educational offerings like these we, as a caring and compassionate people, can prevent anything like this from happening again.

The guide was very kind, as were all of the other people there. With the guide, it was very interactive and engaging. Our group was very happy with this trip.

We love to have groups! Glad your group had a meaningful experience. Groups who book at least 3 weeks in advance receive a docent led experience at no extra charge. Special tours for schools can also be arranged, check our website.

I like to read everything, so two hours was not enough time here. I managed to get through the permanent exhibit but wasn't able to watch many of the videos. The exhibits do a very thorough job of explaining the Jewish culture during the 1930s as well as how attitudes and politics escalated throughout the war.

Thank you, Rhonda, for this review. Many people do not realize that we are the 3rd largest Holocaust Museum in the world and do not allow enough time. Nice to have this shared by a visitor.

Visited this location with my teenage daughter on a weekday afternoon during her winter break from school. Museum had a special deal for free admission for students, so we took advantage of the discount. However, even if we didn't, prices are reasonable considering just how much this museum offers.

The permanent exhibit on the main floor is both extensive and impressive. They provide a comprehensive review of the holocaust, which starts with the a brief review of Jewish history before getting into the details of the build up to the holocaust. Most of the museum walkthrough does a really great job of moving things forward in a logical and mostly chronological fashion, so that one can see how things progressed and why. Ultimately ends with post-WWII view and how the holocaust affected things afterward. We spent a couple hours touring the main exhibit, and we could have definitely spent another hour or two to more thoroughly view and review all of the artifacts and details that they present.

We also spent another couple of hour viewing other aspects of the museum (beyond the main exhibit). We attended their interactive hologram presentation with a holocaust survivor, Fritzie Fritzshall. Presentation and interaction was both informative and very moving. We also briefly walked through some of the more temporary exhibits and took a few moments in the Hall of Reflections to truly appreciate everything we'd seen.

Thanks for the glowing review, the details of the exhibitions, and how they connected with you and your daughter. Fritzie is always moving and appreciated. It's wonderful that we had the chance to capture her story while she was active with our Museum.

I highly recommend visiting this museum if you are in the area!

I visited on a Saturday and ended up spending 7hrs reading the material, watching the videos and testimonies, and viewing the artifacts. I didn’t make it all the way through the museum and will definitely have to come back for another visit!

Thank you for preserving these artifacts and testimonies of this time in history.

The permanent exhibit is very well done and should be a required field trip for all local high schools. It is well laid out, moving and very very sad. The virtual reality show is also very well done and worth seeing. Finally, the temporary exhibit on delis is enjoyable.

This museum has a very thorough walk-through of the entire period of Jew persecution in Germany, going back to the Weimarch period, and continuing well past WWII, including the controversy in Skokie. Many testimonials by survivors, and numerous artifacts. Also had a special touring exhibition of "The Green Book". Well worth the visit.

There is no cafeteria inside.
There are vending machines in lower level with soft drinks, chocolate, snacks, etc.
There are a number of good restaurants in the nearby Old Orchard mall.
Simply keep your admission tickets and show them at the entrance when you return. Be sure to get back before 4:00 when the doors close. The museum is open till 5:00.

Currently, masks encouraged but not required.

See my earlier review (Ma 29, 2022) for more details, including the history.
