This museum has no admission, although the $5 suggested donation is a bargain. It features very new works of art, some of which are pretty great, and some of which are not. For reasons that are not entirely clear to me, the MOCAD has presented a strong group of video features over the years.

This is an excellent option to see some contemporary art. The admission is a suggested donation of $5. There is not a tremendous volume of work, the quality is excellent.

This is an excellent, though fairly small museum. The exhibitions are generally quite good. The current shows-Kaws and Eddie Martinez-are very good.
The Mike Kelly House is across the parking lot, and is operated by the museum. It features even edgier, though usually interesting shows.
There is a cafe in the museum, with good food and drinks and ample seating.
There is no charge, although the suggested donation is $5. It is a bargain at that rate.

Many of Detroit's cultural attractions sit on it's main street Woodward Avenue, including MOCAD. The museum is housed in a former car dealership, giving it a raw industrial look. There's a suggested entry of $5, which is quite reasonable. Since the exhibitions are always changing, there's always something new to see.
Two current exhibitions feature work by Tyree Guyton, a Detroit artist know internationally for his 30 year Heidelberg Project, which these exhibitions draw upon. There was a nice range of art, most of which I enjoyed. Guyton's work is imaginative and thought provoking, with a real street character. For me, the rawness of his work was reminiscent of the old Cass Corridor art scene, and something I liked. His use of automobile hoods as a canvas is fitting for Detroit.
MOCAD has free parking in a lot on Garfield Street. it's unpaved, but serves it's purpose. MOCAD also has a Cafe with full bar and a small gift shop.

My company had their Holiday party at the MOCA recently. It was my first time visiting the museum and I thought it was really nice. I also learned that they have happy hour on Thursday's and Friday's and you are free to walk around the museum and look at all the exhibits. Although it was my first visit it will not be my last.

This place is such a raw, contemporary art museum that showcases all mediums and designs. Not a very big place, but big enough to do what it was meant to. They have a small open gift shop inside with wearables, readables and home decor, all at reasonable prices. But they were closed today, because they only were open for the field trip. They have a few bathrooms inside with several stalls in each. They have a cafe that sells coffee, alcoholic drinks and food. It also has a ton of tables (it fit all of our 6th thru 8th graders....about 60 plus about 10 teachers & chaperones). They have a mobile building in the back you can tour. What's neat is they have a door that leads to their basement full of tunnels and multi levels (but not open to the public). We came on school busses so not sure about parking. Only one level per building and wide dpaces between exhibits also (except one spot in the mobile building), so easy access for those disabled or with strollers.

Un museo chiaramente sopra le aspettative, molto grande e molto curato, pieno di cose interessanti e bizzarre da vedere, peccato sia poco conosciuto.

Funny and strange museum, about contemporary art there is everything, very big and very nice. pity that it's not valued, it's a museum that should be seen.

Maybe I’m just not smart enough to understand contemporary art, but I honestly felt like I wasted my time here, especially because I was only there for two days. I truly enjoyed the DIA, so that may just be my preference.
The whole run-through took about 10-15 minutes and my friend donated $30, which he quickly regretted. I felt there wasn’t a ton to see despite the large space. I will say the bar/coffee shop did seem nice, but I didn’t get anything there.
