The climb to the peak is pretty steep and there are 340 steps. The view from the top is just ok, but the climb down the mountain, past the large carved GuanYin is nice. If you're into views you should just climb TianYouFeng twice and skip this one.

Great walk through forests and by a river to the base of Roaring Tiger Rock. We did not climb but rather enjoyed the riverside area, watching the fish, the rafters go by and the crowds picnicking etc ( shame about all the smoking). It was a weekend so the crowds did not surprise or bother us. There is lots to do at Wuyishan Mountain and we had a great day.

make sure you do some stretching before you start as quite steep steps to climb, came down via Huxiao Cliff which passes a huge buddah that has been engraved into the rock. at the bottom of that climb you can then go out via Thread of the Sky. walked probably about 3 hours so ensure you have good walking shoes and water. you can buy water, drinks and food in between Roaring Tiger and Huxiao before you descend.

I went there very early in the morning, almost no other tourist at that time. It is another steep and narrow stairs to climb, about 300+ steps, it was quite exhausted and took me at least 30mins to reach the top. The view is great, fresh air in the morning. Absolutely no shelter in between, would be good if the sun is not strong during the day. If you have been to the highest peak (Tian You Feng) of Wuyishan, you can skip this.

i highly recommend this very scenic hike...a leisurely hike from the entrance to the top of tiger rock and out from "yunu" exit takes no more than 2 hrs. the climb up the rock is steep but well maintained with sturdy and textured concrete for maximum grip for your feet, we did the hike in slightly drizzly conditions but always felt sure footed even in descent. at the top do not miss the deviation to the observation deck where you get the most rewarding panoramic views of the wuyi peaks. getting down was just as rewarding as you hug the sheer cliff of the rock and arrive at a Goddess of mercy temple carved dramatically into the rock. from the temple we took the shortest 1.2 km route to the "yunu" exit

Recommend to visit this place after One Thread Sky (一线天), as both are near one another. Be mindful there are lots of steps to climb to the peak. The steps can be narrow and steep on certain sections, hence be extra careful.

Once at the top, the reward is a good view of the surrounding area. I find the view at Tianyou peak much nicer though. Besides toilet, there is a shop selling trinkets, food and drinks. I bought a corn for 10 rmb as part of my lunch.

Note this place is 1 way, ie visitors cannot loop back to original entrance to exit this place. Instead, there are 2 choices - one exit is at One Thread Sky while the other exit is Maiden Peak (玉女峰). Since I came from One Thread Sky via sightseeing bus, I decided to head to Maiden Peak for the exit. Along the trail, one would not miss the huge Buddha statue carved on one side of the mountain, which also served as a temple (Tian Cheng Temple).

Overall, I recommend to hiking up to Roaring Tiger Rock.

We were a group of 4, including 1 person with a heart condition, so hour long steep hiking was out of the question. Thankfully, Roaring Tiger Rock was very doable in this regard.

As we travelled during peak season in the National holiday we were worried about crowds, which were there at the beginning when the climb is steep and small, but later on it gets more peaceful.

If you are only to hike one major peak, have limited time, or are looking for diversity, this is the place. Roaring Tiger Rock takes you from steep hillside and breathtaking bridges to extraordinary Buddhist sights with a huge Buddha statue carved in the mountainside, and relaxing trails through peaceful tea fields.

Recommended combining this with 'Thread of Sky', which is sort of a cave/gap trail in the mountain of less than an hour. Getting there will take you to a not often used route through mountainside tea fields.

In total we spend the whole morning here, taking a few hours.
