Its really cool. There is a rare white lion and a snow tiger. You can rake photos and hold the white tiger! There is a museum of the animals the owner hunted which is quite interesting. A lot of animals roam free for you too see and maybe touch (if safe & allowed) there is multiple kinds of feeding such as camel, deer and goat feeding. Its really fun, would recommend.

I suggest read this review and don't go there.

One of the worst or probably the worst zoo I ever went. Ostriches looks like they're dying, lions looked starved. They even have Rabbits as an attraction. And they didn't mention you need to pay more to see the other animals. Well it was ok not to pay more because their animals are dead "inside". I think they only took care of the museum with their hunted animals.

The Baluarte Zoo was established by local politician and businessman, Chavit Singson. Initially it was only a rest house for Singson. The site was already known as Baluarte prior to Singson's arrival, which came from the Spanish term for "stronghold" or "fortress".

Singson considered opening a zoo when his hunting trophy collection grew too big. It’s an interactive wildlife sanctuary, designed and developed by Singson himself.

We were grateful for the shuttle that drove us, it was a hot day.

The parking and ticket area could be better organized; otherwise, this is a goid attraction.

DO NOT COME HERE!

I came here with my family in January 2023 as part of our north Luzon road trip because it was known that this place had big cats. My father loves lions and my sister collects tiger plushies.

The entry process was very intuitive. The prices for each trip package were clearly laid out and the ticket purchasing was a breeze. At first, we actually liked the tour. We got to feed ostriches and giraffes, and my family got to see their favorite animals.

The tour took a sour turn, however, when we were brought to a gallery building that looked like a temple where Singson housed his taxidermied trophy animals. As soon as we entered the building we were greeted with a picture of Singson in the form of a centaur! There were several more portraits that sought to exude his macho and bravado. Pictures of Singson beside grounded animals littered the gallery.

Disguised as a haven for foreign and local rare animals, Baluarte is, rather, a testament to the owner's greed, exorbitant wealth, absent respect for animals, and narcissism.

Spare your hard-earned cash for someplace more worthwhile, like the La Paz sand dunes up north, local cafes along Calle Crisologo, or trips to the beach with your loved ones. Just please avoid this place.

I highly discourage people - whether they be singles, couples, friends, or families - from coming to Baluarte.

We went last Feb 25 with my family and before buying our tickets, I asked one of their front desk/ ticket officers if we can bring our pet dog inside the park, I am expecting that they will be providing info about bringing in pets to the zoo however, it was a disappointing situation when their staff with condescending tone of voice telling me that “ NO PETS ALLOWED” So I decided not to farther discuss or ask questions since I was then blocked already by their policy.
So to those who will visiting BALUARTE, “PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED” for whatever reasons they may have.

If I could give a zero I would. Very sad experience. Emaciated animals. Declawed big cats, chained. The cat handled smacked the tigers face sooo hard when the tiger reacted to him waving his chip bag at him. What zoo has a museum of dead animals in the top of the zoo? Sick sick sick. If you live animals this is not the place to go. It’s so dry with nothing for the animals to eat. The kangaroo had spots that reminded me of mange. The ostrich has a lot of missing feathers. They let people poke and mess with these animals. My son loves animals and I had to remind him that this is not how we treat animals. This place should shut down. Absolute trash.never ever coming back here again.

My best friend and I really enjoyed the place. There are lot of stores that you can buy souvenirs. We took a lot of photos that will remind us with the beautiful place, the gallery and the cute or wild animals. Also, we really like the museum! Will visit here again soon with my family. ☺

this place where I can truly enjoy despite seeing the animals dead. I love seeing animals that I rarely see. I love seeing the animals how entertaining they are. And you could enjoy the place because it's free. Open for everyone who would like to visit the place.

Baluarte is one of the place you should visit when you're at Ilocos Sur. There is no entrance fee. You can either walk inside or get a shuttle for only 50 pesos per head. Snacks, drinks and souvenirs are just beside the main entrance. Great location for picture taking.

how do you run a zoo and have half of the animals be dead and taxidermied? dont know how this zoo is still running. horrible care of animals and nothing to be proud of. the governor should be put in a 6x2 cage with the tigers and lions and see how he likes it.
