Great for kids, but the museum is scanty for adults. The trails are great, and the roundhouse is interesting and informative. Overpriced if you don't have kids.

Self paced. Was raining so did not visit outside exhibits. Story of Lewis & Clark exploration to the Pacific Northwest. Many hands on activities for children. Short movie in theater.

This museum is as much a nature center and preserve as a museum. It effectively tells the story of Lewis and Clark's historic and dangerous mission to navigate the Missouri River, and then to find a route to the Pacific Ocean. Examples of the craft used by the explorers are very authentic and helps explain many of the difficulties navigating the treacherous river. There are several other museums in Nebraska City worthy of a visit, including the Windmill Muesum, a former factory that was preserved for posterity; and the Freighter's Museum that explains how the wagon trains were used to move freight from the river to western destinations before arrival of the railroad.

For several weeks, I’ve studied and followed the Lewis and Clark trail. The curiosity of what was endured by the explorers had placed me on the path of several interpretive centers. The one in Nebraska City sits on a bluff within a well-designed building. The model of a keelboat greets you as you approach the building. I had the opportunity to view it up close and have a seat inside to get a sense of what the men experienced.
Inside of the center is a pirogue (small boat) with a model of Seaman, the Newfoundland dog that accompanied the explorers. Many other displays throughout the three floors provided information regarding numerous topics For example, the animals that the Discovery Corp dealt with, learned of, or instruments of navigation that were used. Take advantage of the trail map offered with several paths. I chose two, one that leads you to a model of the Earth Lodge and the other to DeBruce River Outlook.
There is enough in and out of the center to do, read about or learn through a brief film about the Lewis and Clark expedition. I will admit that I wasn’t aware of an admission fee, but from their well-stocked gift shop, my purchases helped to make up for it. Overall: This center was worth the stop.

This visitor center was OK, definitely more oriented for kids or teens. There are 2 levels of displays which are fairly static. There did not seem to be much rhyme or reason to how they were laid out. Nice reproduction of a river craft outside. Its worth a stop once but as mentioned, there is an admission price.

Being from the Midwest, I have been to multiple Lewis and Clark Interpretive Centers (Yankton, SD, Sioux City, IA…). I was surprised when we had to stop to pay admission for our family, as the other Centers I have been to are free to explore. I assumed that the admission price would ensure a variety of educational exhibits, including many relevant to Lewis and Clark, however I was left relatively disappointed in those assumptions. It seemed the majority of available displays were animal mounts, which were not particularly outstanding. There was a small sewing activity for the kids to participate in, which made me feel better about paying the unexpected admission fees, as well as a stamping project to keep the kids engaged as they explored the Center. Overall, I find this Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center the least impressive of those that I’ve visited.

Don’t miss this visitor center if you are interested in Lewis and Clark’s scientific discoveries. There are three floors of exhibits, showing everything from the medicines Lewis used, the flora and fauna they described for science, and many of the instruments they used. The life size boat replicas really help you understand the expedition. There are many Lewis and Clark Visitor Centers. This one is worth a detour to visit.

Nice, clean, facility. A good break for the family. Not overly deep in information. Nice grounds and nice model of the boat they made the trip with, so you can see actual size.

My husband and I had a great time. We loved all the exhibits on display and especially like the interactive opportunities. We attended a 30 minute movie before our self guided tour. They have 3 floors of things to see and do. Afterwards we went for a walk to the overlook to see the Missouri River and then onto the earth lodge home. It was quite teresting. The rangers were very helpful and friendly.
