Authentic Mansion
juil. 2021 • En couple
Fun to visit and worth the $8 admission. I liked the fact that most of the furnishings are authentic and actually were part of the estate. Quite a bit of historical photographs, documents, and period art work. Well documented signage allows easy flow through the mansion. Liked the flawless mirror in the reception room. Did not like the display explaining his views on slavery. Seems like an excuse for the radical crowd to cancel his life. Otherwise, good job. Don’t miss the bowling alley in the basement.

Historical and Interesting
déc. 2020 • En couple
We visited during the off season so some areas were closed for the winter but the history of the house, the family, the eventual circumstances of the site being designated a state property, all very interesting. We enjoyed that it is self guided although we came up with questions as we went. The staff is friendly and helpful. Wouldn't recommend little kids as there's allot to touch. Good time and it took us about an hour to for the house. If the rest of the grounds were open, I would guess another hour to complete. Good visit

Strolling in the leaves!
nov. 2020 • En couple
Our Annual trip to Nebraska City always includes a stop at Arbor Lodge. To stroll through the beautiful grounds that J. Sterling Morton had the foresight to plant the 1000s of trees.
In addition, you can enjoy a glimpse of days gone by in their 52 room mansion. The carriage house includes the many carriages the family used.
Stroll, relax appreciate an era of days gone by.

Leaf peeping!
oct. 2019 • En couple
We reap the benefit of the Morton's love of nature and trees! It's a fall leaf peeping extravaganza. Enjoy the carriage house, imagine the family riding up to the 52 room mansion. The grounds are beautiful any time of the year, but fall is its a true gem. The original bricks are still there as a walking path.
Behind the mansion enjoy the apple trees, flowers and stone benches to sit, relax and enjoy history.

An interesting place
sept. 2019 • En couple
We toured the Arbor Lodge Mansion today. It is a very large house fashioned after the White House look. It was built by J.Sterling Morton, who started Arbor Day. His son Joy, of Morton Salt fame, renovated and enlarged the home to what it is today. It has many rooms, a carriage house, stables and beautiful gardens. There is a video which gives interesting details of the family and the home. Interesting to visit

An incredibly important, inglorious, aspect of our country's history. Wonderful mansion, family story and needs to be preserved. A must-see! a story worth hearing.

Wonderful historic mansion !
juil. 2019 • En solo
Great for people who like old mansions, old furnishings, history, and life in Nebraska in late in the 1800s. The exterior could use a little repair, paint, and patch. The interior is spectacular.
Don't waste your time going and paying for the next-door Arbor Day Farm. It's just a walk through the woods with no map, no navigation hints, and minimal explanation. The staff is particularly dodgy about telling you anything about it -- as if they know you are stupid if you pay to go there. Instead just take a (free) walk around the grounds around the Arbor Lodge mansion.

Two thumbs up!
avr. 2019 • En couple
We visited this beautiful historic landmark on Arbor Day (btw it’s free during Arbor Day). We were throughly impressed by the historic elements preserved in this house that not detailed the history of the Morton family but Nebraska itself. In addition, we loved walking through the grounds seeing all the beautiful array of trees that encompasses the whole idealism of Arbor Day.
