It isn't often that you come across something as interesting as this pillar, and even less often is is possible to get a close up view of a hoodoo. There is a trail so you can get a close up look but it is steep and not for everyone. As alway when visiting nature, please be respectful of this attraction. There is a drive involved to reach this location, allow several hours for the round trip. There are no facilities here so if you need a stop make it in Falkland or Chase depending on which direction you headed here from.

Every visitor to our home in Falkland, we take up to Pillar Lake for a lovely swim in the lake, and a short, steep hike to the Pillar.
A several ton boulder sits on top of the 90' Hoo Doo...amazing..worth a visit !

I go here often to fish. Decent boat launch and the view of the pillar from across the lake is great. Day use only. The hike up to the pillar is a bit of a workout so if its a warm day remember to take water.

very interesting Okanagan First Nation stories regarding the pillar. The pillar is a spiritual place for Okanagan First Nations so when viewing the pillar show respect for its historical significance.

I climbed up to the Pillar with my three youngest kids (ages 6, 5 & 3) on a hot, June day. I was wonderfully cool in the Douglas Fir forest. We had no problem climbing up to the Pillar and could have gone on higher. Coming down the steep trail required a little more focus, but wasn't difficult. It was disappointing to see signs of graffiti in this sacred aboriginal place, but beautiful to be at.

Recommend it highly.

This is an amazing piece of geology, it is a 100 foot (or more) tower of rock and sandstone with a rock on top the size of a volkswagen beetle.
I had driven by this place many times and not even known it is here, it is not very well posted, although there are signs now about the provincial park and the fines for vandalism.
Seems that vandals have been at this and it is being restored. It is currently fenced off as of May 2015, so you can no longer touch it.

It is a short steep hike to the base of this thing and definitely worth the effort.

Pillar Lake Provincial Park is located along the Falkland - Chase Road access of highway 97 in Falkland and highway one in Chase. This is a rather small park located right across from Pillar Lake Resort Lodge. The pull off is just past the Lodge and trail starts other side of the road. This is a moderate steep 15 minute hike. Overall nice short hike.

Pillar Lake Provincial Park is located along the secondary backroad that connects the communities of Chase and Falkland. The turn off is just before you reach Chase coming from Kamloops along the TransCanada Highway. Drive on pave/dirt road to the Pillar Lake Lodge resort and 100 meters from there is small pull over and across the road is the trail. This is a moderate short hike up hill for about 15 min so take care and wear proper hiking boots.
