The John Dunn Shops are a must-visit if you're in Taos, whether visiting or living here. I live here and go often. It's my fav place to find something wonderful or to hang out on a beautiful day. This is more than a wonderful collection of shops selling all kinds of beautiful things. Many items are one of a kind - unique, handmade, and delightful. Useful items like mugs, clocks, kitchen towels, dishes, purses, etc., are rendered exceptionally charming by Taos creatives:

Super nice clothing for men and women (including natural fibers like wool, alpaca, and cotton), whether you're into world styles, SW styles, or traditional snazzy European. Stylish shoes, coats, hats. A plethora of lovely kitchen items can be found at Monet's Kitchen. A huge variety of gorgeous pieces of jewelry. Small-ticket artworks like beeswax candles carved with exceptionally accurate wild animals at Las Comadres. Mexican-flavored art and jewelry at Coyote Moon. Gemstones small and huge at the gem store there (Taos has three gem & mineral stores). Shamanic drums. World class (award winning) chocolate which you can see being made, plus other great chocolate at the Cashmere and Chocolate shop. Beads. Upcycled items made snazzy and useful. Tarot cards. Essential oil spray blends. Books. The list goes on. There's also a great coffee shop there which Taos folks flock to regularly. An organic restaurant and a larger cafe/restaurant with a more ordinary but wide menu. Both close around 2 or 3pm, so be sure to check their hours.

Plus the whole place is just enjoyable as an experience - it's charming visually, plus the flowers and trees and fountain make it perfect to chat with friends at the outside tables in the Taos breezes. Friendliness toward strangers is a given, not an exception. In summer on weekends there are often a few musicians playing together by the fountain, the Taco Bomb cart is open (great to grab food from if you're in a hurry), and another cart sells a variety of flavors of yummy popsicles; some have coconut cream in them. At the holidays there's a celebration evening with carolers and food being dished up outside. Near the John Dunn shops are other great places to shop as well, like Moxie Fair Trade and Handmade, so the whole area is worth checking out.

Someone here criticized the bathrooms. During Covid the restrooms did become an issue, but they are very clean now. They're in their own small building beside the parking lot and very well kept up, in my experience.

I see mediocre and/or critical reviews, but during the lockdown years all kinds of things went haywire - small businesses were forbidden to open for long periods here, and worker availability was problematic. Check out the shops now, things are very much up to speed.

There are no bathrooms close. You have to go to city bathrooms that are horrible and disgusting. Graffiti and unclean conditions

The John Dunn Shops is a left turn off Bent Street into a series of small shops. Just be aware that some restaurants are closed mid-week. Galleries, womens clothing, children's store, bookstore, a kitchen store and places to eat were there when we visited.

Very cute and quaint little area but many of the shops had so many restrictions due to COVID, it made it uncomfortable to shop. The hanging baskets of flowers were worth the walk - gorgeous!

My husband and I live very close and it’s our nightly stroll through town! During the day there’s great places like bent street deli and seconds! The annual events that are held by the shop are great to such as the paseo and the bonfires at Christmas

I love this area for shopping; the ambiance is low key & laid back. There's none of the pretentiousness of Santa Fe. The kitchen store is one of my favorites as are the two women's boutiques here which carry some unique pieces at affordable prices. There is often live music playing. Be sure to stop in for ice cream, coffee or chocolates at one of the little cafes!

I tried to review some of these shops individually but apparently it is not allowed because their website is all shared and makes it look like a mall but they are not in a mall. The shops surround a courtyard and some go down streets and they have their own entrance. For them to be concentrated in one area, does provide one with easy access to several unique and specialty shops. Some if my absolute favorites are Monet's Kitchen and Ammann Gallery and La Tierra Mineral Gallery. However, there is a leather shop and yarn shop and coffee shop and several more.

Ammann Gallery is one of those shops that has a lot of culture arts and in my opinion, something for everyone. I collect fetishes and they had a great, well priced selection which I added 2 new ones to my collection.

I love going into a kitchen store on every vacation because it seems like a good one will have something I don't have and Monet's Kitchen fit that bill. I bought a hand held frother! They also carry spices one would use locally.

This is a huge part of a great shopping experience in Taos!
