Located about 4 miles north of Cazenovia, the falls at Chittenango are impressive as it falls 167 feet. The bedrock is said to be more than 400 million years old. The falls are very close to the parking lot and you can get quite close to get a feel for the power and the sound to the gorge and even upstream. There are viewing areas from the footbridge below. The park is very nice with a playground, pavilions, fishing, hiking, picnics etc. The road passes directly over the falls and it is easy to miss the turn off, but easy to turn back around.

We stopped here to view the falls on our way home from the Brae Loch. It was beautiful. A good view could be had from the top and bottom of the falls.

Clean and proper track for us to walk down to the bottom of the waterfall. Also not crowed with lot of people. A nice place to enjoy the nature view of waterfall and natural environment.

Impressive waterfall, accessible by stairs that are sometimes slick and without a hand rail. Worth the effort to walk to the bottom if you're able.

Chittenago Falls are impressive! While we enjoyed the view from the top, we decided to make the trek down to the walkway bridge. It was a bit tricky but overall not too hard to manage (we are 68-75 yrs) and when we got to the bottom we were rewarded with a spectacular view of the falls.

This is another amazing falls in the state of New York. The area is kept up well and the hike to the bridge is not that bad. The view from the bridge is wow!! Another one done on our bucket list

This was a very nice hike with beautiful views of the falls. The hike was not too difficult, but the stairs can be slippery after a lot of rain/snow so be prepared for that. The trails were beautiful just a bit difficult to follow at first glance.

Beautiful, peaceful scenery at its finest. Nice walk to the bottom of the falls, not terribly difficult to maneuver. Just need to be able to climb steps to get back to the top.

Great place to hike, enjoy nature and see some fascinating birds. The trails could be better marked, but it was easy to find our way around by following the gorge.

Our early Oct 2020 visit here was wonderful - a beautiful autumn day, sun shining ... perfect to walk down to the falls. We walked down the steps, but walked back up the trail on the other side of the falls. We then explored the area under the road overpass; the stream leading to the falls was calm and peaceful. A great day for taking pictures!

The walkway down to the falls is using stairs but the rest of the park is flat

Does anyone recommend a specific trail, besides the 10 minute hike to the bottom of the falls? I am taking a group of field hockey girls for a scenic hike, and would like a 1-2 hour hike with views.

The Chittenango Falls State Park consists of the short steep hike to the beautiful falls, but no other trails. See the official site parks.ny.gov/parks/130/
About an hour away there's the Pixley Falls State Park..you can check out the info online.
Which areas will you be taking the group thru (so people can try to chime in with possible nature scenic hike opportunities) ?

No. Sorry. No swimming.
How "toddler friendly" are the trails? We have two active kids who love to hike!

Not really. It's about a 4 and a half hour drive from nyc and I don't know of any way to get there other than by car
