Very hot place! amazing views and colours of the lake. Turkana are hardcore people! This is another planet to discover!

You've just got to love this place. A lake that runs through the arid and semi arid lands in Kenya. Simply beautiful and a marvel of God's creation. Super potential in terms of investments. I stayed in a nearby manyatta to complete the true authentic local feeling. A must visit again.

Lake Turkana is famous for its greenish-blue colors, We set up our tents and camped overnight in the camping site of Palm Shade Resort. It is located very close to the shores of Lake Turkana. We had spent our day there very nicely.

Estuvimos tres días en este recóndito lugar al que llegar ya es toda una aventura.
Increíble la capacidad de supervivencia de las tribus que habitan en las orillas del lago.
Los paisajes son de una belleza y serenidad únicas.
Un lugar para recapacitar sobre la existencia.

This is the second time we visited the lake. The first was from the west, arriving from Lodwar. where you are engulfed in large sand dunes and palm trees. This time we traveled up the east side of the lake ending up at Loiyangalani. .Here the area is a desert of volcanic rock and the occasional flat top acacia. I found the lake to have much more splendor from this approach. You first view it from a distant height, which the Lake takes the opportunity to reveal it;s beautiful jade depth. Then as you follow the shoreline you see all these beautiful islands, including the huge Middle Island, It is very hot, and the lake water although warm, does manage to cool you down for a little while. Be careful to swim where the locals do, as the lake if home to the largest both insize and quantity of Nile crocodiles in the world. Best time to visit is during the Turkana/Loiyangalani annual festival, postponed from June to December this year. The town is home to like eight tribes which traditionally kill each other, however they live in harmony in this a area, making it an ideal location for the tribes to congregate from hundreds of miles away to share a time of reconciliation, dancing and cuisine.

It wasn’t easy to organise the trip and it required both the stubbornness and determination.
Finally we made it. From Nairobi to Maralal, Baragoi, South Horr.
You go to Lake Turkana not for animals, like in other parts of Kenya, but for the people.
Yes it’s true, the Lake is fantastic, its colours incredible presenting you with stunning photographic opportunity, yet it is the people who are truly amazing. Against the nearly empty, mainly brownish background you can see incredibly colourful silhouettes of people moving about.
They are wearing vividly coloured clothes and tons of flashy beads in their necklaces, bracelets, headdresses.
Once you get here you must start with a visit to the El Molo people who are the smallest and nearly extinct tribe in Kenya. They are called by other tribes ‘ the people who eat fish’ or ‘ the people who don’t rely on cattle’.
Truly enough they survive on fish from the Lake and you will see no cattle there, however with only a couple of people speaking it, their language is not likely survive.

Lake Turkana is probably the most isolated of the great lakes, but research shows that is one of the cradles of humans.

We send a night in Turkana Lake, beside the lake without any tent. The lake was amazingly beautiful, with the surrounding trees and palm trees making it perfectly beautiful. Our 2 month stay in Lodwar is complete by visiting this lake. At night, the start view was superb! it was really beautiful and the sunset of the opposite of the lake was pretty as well as the sunrise from the lake...

We got in from the eastern part of Uganda all the way to lodwor the rout was very challenging because of rain with the natives helpful at times and at times not but the view was beautiful

Adventurous trip it had a lot of challenges on the way with some of the most trying moments as many bridges on the way had broken down and some places are impassable
