The Tourist Information Centre is a must-go on your visit to Wongan Hills. Their website was telling me the centre closes at 1pm, however they kept it open until we arrived later in the afternoon, after having called them. We were advised by Greg and Alfreda, lovely couple who, like the other friendly volunteers, manage the centre. They told us about which bushwalks to go to, what local community events are happening, where to find flowers, etc... they shared their passion of the local area with us. They definitely contribute to make our stay at Wongan Hills a wonderful memory.

There were two volunteers manning the place and they were very helpful with information on the Christmas Rock Trail.

Visited the Centre having enjoyed a coffee at the bakery. Staff member/volunteer very helpful with advice on attractions not listed on TA, both in town and within short drives. Great range of products and souvenirs stocked, I purchased my usual magnet as a memento of Wongan Hill. Definitely the first stop for knowledge of local and lesser known tourist attractions.

Not open, which is strange as most country towns visitors centre is open every day of the year.
Perhaps they are seasonal...... may need to look into being open on call. Fancy newish building but like a ghost town.

We found a fabulous museum attached to the visitors centre, definitely worth a visit. We spent a few hours wondering around here as well as looking around the shed full of old vehicles. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We took their advice on a lunch venue at the IGA store which was also great. Food and coffee exceptional.

We called in to the information Centre on our first days stay in Wongan Hills, but didn't seem to get much information from the lady that was there!
I realise that these people are mostly volunteers, but should be able to have basic information about the area.

We visited Wongan Hills with UK friends looking for wildflowers. Our first port of call was the Tourist Information Centre where a VERY helpful gentleman (I think his name was Robert or Richard, sorry I can't remember!). He kindly gave us 2 maps and a brochure and showed me exactly where we should go and what we should expect to find there. Our particular favourite was Christmas Rock where we saw lots of Lemon-scented Sun orchids, Common Spider Orchids and Sundews (with different coloured flowers). We also found a little clump of Ant Orchids which was an exciting first for me.
If you're looking for wildflowers, don't waste your time aimlessly looking around, just go straight to the Tourist Information Centre and get your information from the experts.

I call into the visitor information centre and meet Robert, a local gentleman, with all the information stored in his head, tells me he tried to live in Perth once, hated it and all the rush to get somewhere or nowhere.
He gives me a map and with perfect directions and instructions, sends me off, opposite from the direction I drove in, for 15 kms. He hands me a map, with back up things (6) to do, cause the wildflowers aren’t as spectacular at the moment, you are a week too early. I’d hate your big drive to be wasted.
The salt lakes at Kondut come into view and I turn off to Reynoldson Reserve. I park up and decide to walk it, a decent couple of kms, then return back again. A driveable sandy track, single lane, so, when busy, would be a nightmare, of people getting out to view and photograph.
The weather has improved dramatically from Perth, but, the wind is ferocious, still a blessing, to keep the 6.2 million (give or take) flies who mad a bee line straight for my eyes, ears, mouth and nose.
My solid recommendation would be a fly net, maybe Robert should sell them at the VIC.

Amazing center that has a lot of information at your finger tips. Tour Guides will give you all the information about where wildflowers are, what to see and much more. Well worth a stop in to find out more about the area

We are a caravan club of about 13 vans staying on the long weekend.
I am looking for things to do in the area for the club. Thanks in advance. Nicola
