My wife and I walked along this loop hiking trail, after completing The Pinnacle Hiking track from the Wonderland Car Park, during our recent holiday in Grampians.
We are physically lean and fit and can walk 10 km or more, every day, which we did during our holiday.
The scenery in Grampians are among the best in Regional Victoria and we have visited many time over the years. Will return in future for another visit.

The Wonderland area has easy access and the hike is relatively easy through rocky granite outcrops, small ravines and small creeks. One of the more picturesque walks in the Grampians and a must do when there.

Great circuit hike. It is a long way up to the Pinnacle with some tricky rocky sections and many steps going back down to Halls Gap. We are an older couple, hike with walking poles and take our time but would strongly recommend

This is the main reason to come to Halls Gap, to do the Wonderland hike to the Pinnacle lookout over the valley. We did it anti-clockwise, up the valley and then down the stairs. It's not an easy hike but it's not THAT hard. well worth it!

This is a terrific hike but at around 9kms it’s also a reasonably tough one as there’s a lot of uneven ground and you permanently seem to be either ascending or descending.
We left from the car park opposite the swimming pool in Halls Gap and took the path on the left up to the Pinnacle. Although a little steep in places the path was easy to follow and the views and surroundings were fantastic. In the 90 mins or so it took us to reach the top we only encountered a handful of people. It seems most folks drive to the Wonderland car park and walk the 2.4km to the Pinnacle.
Emerging from the trees as we reached the Pinnacle it suddenly became busy, with roughly 50 people scattered around the Pinnacle. No more calm and serenity. The Wonderland Loop takes you back via the Wonderland car park so you’ll share the path with many, many more people. The route back down is tough but beautiful with many different landscapes and terrain. It gets considerably quieter when you pass the car park and although there’s a few more ups and downs it’s generally a lot easier.
Sadly the Grand Canyon Staircase was closed.
A few things worth noting: to avoid the crowds at the Pinnacle and on the walk back down, I wish we’d left Halls Gap well before 9.30am.
When you emerge from the trees near the top the path disappears so you need to keep an eye out for the yellow triangles on the rocks that tell you where to go - it’s not always obvious though and some of the triangles are missing or spaced out so it’s worth paying close attention. We met a few people who’d gone the wrong way.
If you’re doing the entire loop, pack plenty of water, food and wear a hat - seems obvious but we didn’t !
Parks Victoria describe this hike as “not for the faint hearted” and “strenuous”. I tend to agree !
Awe inspiring views make it worthwhile though.

Prachtige natuurwandelingen, vermoeiend en soms wat moeilijk (stevige schoenen zijn geen overbodige luxe), maar zeker de moeite waard. De natuur kan prachtig zijn !

Terrific but strenuous hike from town up through amazing scenery culminating at a fantastic cliff top view of the country below. However we could not find the loop down trail from the top and had to return the way we had come up. The $3 trail map that we had bought at the tourist office was no help and we met another couple who had exactly the same problem, so it wasn't just us being blind! The ranger in the tourist office insisted that there was an arrow to the down trail, but we couldn't find it and we didn't find anyone else who had found it - so beware!

This walk was beautiful. It covered so much different terrain and there was so much to take in. The Grand Canyon, silent passage and pinnacle were highlights.

Started early (around 8.30) to avoid the crowds, from the trail just behind the campingplace in Halls Gap (plenty of parkingspace). Beautiful hike up to the pinnacle, first following the river and crossing the Venus Baths and a short detour to a waterfall before crossing the river up the hill. First part was very quiet, when the path met the Wonderland Carpark trail it got more busy and the pinnacle itself was very crowded but still very beautiful. The last part up to the pinnacle is pretty steep and you will have to wait for people coming down when passing through a narrow gorge. The trail is very well kept however with stairs and boardwalks at some points and the scenery is great. From the pinnacle we took the forestpath down back to the village (look carefully for the marks on the stones to find the trail into the forest) and saw only a few people on our (quite steep) way down. Would defenitely recommend hiking the entire loop, while most people only do the returnhike from the Wonderland Carpark. The entire loop took us around 4,5 hours.

We started and finished this loop walk from Halls Gap. But you could probably do the same from the Wonderland Car Park. The walk takes in the Venus Baths, the Pinnacle, and Silent Street. Not for the unfit. We completed it in three hours with lots of time spent looking at the view from the Pinnacle.
