We absolutely love stopping here every year when we come to the area on vacation. This was our third time there. We were sad to hear their beloved camel they had for over 20 years had passed away. But we were excited to see new life blooming with a baby camel about 10 months old. The staff here is so warm and welcoming. We just loved the older lady at the counter. She was the sweetest to our three little kids. The animals are friendly, well fed and well loved. You can feed nearly everything on the property and we always love going in with the goats and deer. This is just the perfect local spot to support on any vacation to the area.

This places is worth every penny. It is perfect for the whole family. The animals are very sweet. The deer love the apples so if you want some great photos be sure to save the apples for the deer. We took our four year old and 14
Year old and both enjoyed it. You can spend as much time as you want so you won’t feel rushed at all. Also it doesn’t feel crowded at all because there are so many wonderful animals to see. We would absolutely do it again.

We went to go horse back riding with my boyfriend and his family and we had a fantastic time! All the horses were very well behaved and the trail was beautiful. We enjoyed it so much that my boyfriend and I went a second time before heading back home. Savannah was our guide and she was very helpful and knowledgeable. Their prices are very good compared to other places in the area as well!!

Awesome! Friendly staff and healthy animals. The food to feed the animals was reasonably priced and you got to keep the cup

My Wife, Myself, our 3 yr old son and 8 year old son went. It was $65, we got 2 cups of food and 2 apples to feed the animals. The animals were super aggressive and acted like they were starving to death, they all swarmed every person that got close, our kids did not enjoy this, they did not want to feed them or touch them because of how they acted. Our 3 year old was scared the whole time and our 8 year old was also scared and bored. My wife and I enjoyed it but if we had known how the kids were going to react we would not have went. We made it an hour and the kids spent more time in the gift shop after than looking at any animals. They had to buy something so it ended up being $80-90.

we were not impressed. there is nowhere to sit for any adults that brought kids and just wanted to sit and watch them interact with the animals. the deer and goats were not very well behaved. my daughter bent over to pick up something she dropped and was flooded by deer all over her. we all got muddy and dirty. we did not enjoy the outing.

WOW - this place did not disappoint. We actually found out about this place from several people. If you LOVE animals then this is something you definitely want to go see. It's great for all ages, but especially children. We spent three hours petting and feeding deer, goats, miniature ponys, horses, longhorns, Highland Cow, donkeys, elks, camels, and the list goes on. The staff were great - helpful and friendly. I would suggest going early as it gets crowded as the day goes on. There was also pony rides and horse rides as well, we did not do those but there were plenty of people that were. They have a great gift shop, no food for sale, but you are welcome to bring your own food/drinks and have a picnic in their picnic grove.....lots of trees, shade, and picnic tables to enjoy your picnic. This is an awesome place for a day of fun with your family and friends.

We were super excited for this.
The good first; The kids LOVED it. The animals were friendly. It was about $32 for 2 adults to get in, so small price for a tourist attraction. There were benches throughout to sit on. Most of them are in the shade. The picnic tables were really low though, but it was a seat. They had so many deer. A couple of Zebras. A BIG horse that the kids loved and would have spent the whole day playing with. The goats were a hit because you could go inside and touch them. The kids also rode ponies. They loved that. That is a parent/adult-led ride though. I found that to be brilliant. The grandkids weren't afraid because their parents were with them. The horses were well-matched for the kids. The stirrups was the perfect length. They allow you to have any type of camera, so enjoy taking those photos! We were also able to bring in our water bottles, so that helped a lot.
The bad is only for people with mobility issues. The entrance is up a steep hill. I mean steep. Once you get inside, you walk into their gift shop, so you get a little air. Once you leave the shop you are in the zoo area. It's all inclines, or declines from there. Very few level areas. So as you are interacting with animals, you have to hold yourself on that incline or decline. The decline was hard to get down. No way you could push a stroller through there. It would be super rough. I would NEVER visit it again. My knees hurt so bad after holding those positions.
I gave it 4 stars because if you are young (I am not) and healthy (not that either). This place would be something that you would visit over and over again if you could. If my family came back, my children would take their kids back. It is just not for people who struggle to walk or have bad knees. I also wish there was a better way to get to the top.

How would you go about petting deer? That is, on what areas of the body do they like to be pet, and what areas should one avoid touching?

Are you handicapped (wheelchair) accessible? I see a lot of gravel. Very hard to maneuver in gravel or loose stone.
Rédigé le 8 septembre 2019
There is a ramp but there is A LOT of loose gravel from the parking lot to the little store front.

Do you allow double riding at your stable? Our grand daughters will be 2 and almost 5 when we come in October.
Rédigé le 25 juillet 2019
Yes they do!!!! We saw a mom with an 9 month old in a front pack ride and we also checked in with another couple who had a 2 and 4 year old who went. These guys are soooo awesome

We’d love to do everything while we’re there, but if we want to do only horseback riding, can we do that without paying admission to the petting zoo? Or is admission required in order to access the stables? Thanks!
Rédigé le 17 septembre 2018
You can do it without paying the petting zoo admission. When you are driving in, there will be one road to take for the petting zoo and one to take for the horse stables. They are in different areas.

Does it cost extra to go in with Fallow deer?
Rédigé le 26 août 2018
Not at all but the deer will expect you to have some food with you! Lol. That of course you can purchase when you pay to get in and you can always buy refills as well. It's not expensive and you will have a wonderful time!! 😁

My husband and I are going to the Smokies for our anniversary. Is this petting zoo enjoyable for adults who love animals or is it more just for small children?
Rédigé le 19 juillet 2018
Yes...we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Fun for kids and adults alike.

My 4.5 year old rides (just came of her lead line). Would she be able to ride alone or still have to ride with an adult?
Rédigé le 30 mai 2018
Hi Kat! She would absolutely be able to ride her own horse at our stables! If you have any other questions or would like to make a reservation (walk-ins are also welcome) please call our stables at 865-429-2276. Thanks so much for considering our stables on your visit!

Hi Holly!
Although we'd love to accommodate dogs, we can't let them inside the petting zoo. No matter if it's the smallest teacup Chihuahua or a Great Dane, our deer catch their scent and it can cause them to panic (as natural prey animals they see dogs as predators). For everyone's safety (human and animal) we can't allow any dogs inside the zoo. Thanks for understanding!
